I do agree Annihilation was a HUGE kick off for the character... but well written event that gave him spotlight. Can you argue that DnA didn't really put Nova is the spotlight? To a degree yes... though I did think their Nova book was actually pretty good.

That said, in the same way Nova isn't Green Lanter, DnA isn't Loeb. If Loeb is writing the book, odds are if nothing else, it WILL get spotlight. I'll say again, if the book can't sell well under Loeb than it probably can't sell well at all in the present market. Unless you can snag someone like a Morrison or something, you can't really get a much bigger name on the book than him.
What was Green Lantern before Geoff Johns came aboard and started writing Green Lantern stories that people liked? That started the popularity build to the point that GL was selling enough to build the Blackest Night event around Green Lantern. GL was a struggling book with no clear direction on which of the four earthbound GL's should be even the major GL until DC put a lot of time and effort into making the book popular.

Thats what Marvel could have done with Nova. Annihilation was popular and loved by fans and critics. And it made Nova into an awesome character as you don't get much more badass than ripping Annihilus's heart out of his throat. Nova didn't have to be the star of Conquest, War of Kings, and Realm of Kings any more than Captain America has to be the star of every event but Nova should have at least been heavily involved instead of largely MIA. And then what they did to him in Secret Avengers was turn him into a joke by jobbing him to Steve Rogers to make Steve look more badass as if that was really even necessary.

Loeb is trash. Haven't like anything of his since Long Halloween.

McGuiness sucks too. This cover makes Nova look like space-gnome or flashy midget. God I hate this duo.

I'd take Bendis and the "I-trace-from-Victoria's-Secret-but-still-suck" Greg Land on this.
don't f*&# with Nova or anything Marvel cosmic. PLease and Thank You.

I saw this earlier today, and think it could be pretty cool. I'd love for Nova to get an on-going series again. Even if Loeb is writing, with McGuinness drawing I think I could get behind that book. Like I said, it'd be great to have a on-going Nova book again, his last one was great.

Even prior to Geoff's, Green Lantern was a household name. My mom has never picked up a comic book in her life, and she could tell you who Green Lantern was. That obviously didn't necessarily equate to huge sucess... but in the least, it had it's advantages. And Green Lantern was a title that was on-going for decades. He's one of the few characters that can say that. There's maybe a dozen, out of the thousands in DC and Marvel.

So as much credit ad Geoff's deserves (and he deserves a lot), he was basically turning a B lister into an A lister. It's making an orange into orange juice rather than a lemon into lemonade... what he had was pretty good right from the start.

Nova quite honestly was more a C lister. Thats not a knock against the character... it's just admitting that he has a much farther.

We don't know for sure if Loeb is getting Nova. He might be on a new Guardians of the Galaxy. There's been mention of a GoTG movie, and with mention of Thanos being in the Avengers movie, this is the perfect time, and maybe the reason why, Marvel is rebooting Cosmic.

DnA could still be on Nova, and have him be more involved with Loeb's Guardians.

As others have mentioned, that was the big boo-boo of Marvel Cosmic, not having Rich be the showrunner. I suppose they might have been trying to boost other characters and books, and didn't know the axe was going to come down.

I'm looking forward to it, and I hope Quasar is a part of it!

Man, why Loeb and McGuiness. I know there's different strokes for different folks, but first Cable, now this?
Marvel, STOP writing for the Trade so I can go back to collecting Monthlies again. Thanks.

It was either him or Bendis, your other favorite
Currently recommending: Daredevil, Mudman ( it's back!), Hawkguy, and FF. Can't miss!

    Bugger.

Huge Nova fan. But I have strong reservations over buying any Loeb written book. Been burned too many times over the past few years...

I am excited as Nova is one of my favorites. I have to wait for this one-shot to be available on the MDCC though since I can't afford to have a monthly pull list. :C

So I really dont get this. Loeb and Mcguinness who couldnt get Batman/Superman out on time are now working on two books?

Also let me get this right. They are working on a anew Nova book but instead of Marvel aking the chance to advertise the book instead they are advertising point one book. Dear god those poor arrogant bastards, they really can;t admit they are wrong about this point one thing are they. Even in the face of utter defeate by DC's number 1s.
