Nova is probably now my favorite characters, I'm so glad to see him in Secret Avengers, it's amazing how this character have changed recently, it would be cool if more characters (specially the minors) have this kind of treatment.![]()

Nova has been my favorite character since his I was a wee lass reading his first series. As Nova 3333 said, he got his tail kicked more than he won. Marvel was going for that Spiderman feel at that time.
I don't know if any of you have thought about it (too young maybe) but Rich was like the Greatest American Hero. He was given the power, but never received the instruction manual. So he never knew what he was capable of. Marvel alluded to his possible power levels, but they did not allow him to reach them in his first series.
I believe it was his second series where his power levels were boosted pretty high, which made me happy. But the art was not that great. The writer was a true fan, however. And to be fair, the power boost actually came in the New Warriors series, which led to the second Nova volume.
The New Warriors series was very good, but the creative teams changed. And then they did what DnA did with the Guardians of the Galaxy - the characters we were reading the Warriors for left for some reason or another. Nova lost his powers, Nita was gone for a bit, etc. A lot of other new members were brought in, but it was not the same. By the time they got the band back together, the book was canceled.
I thought the third series was pretty good. I just did not like that Erik Larsen reduced Nova's power levels again. He wanted him back to the pre-power boost days. But Rich did beat the Sphinx, easily. I really liked the art for that series. Marvel was going through trying times and the series was canceled at issue #7. I thought Rich was gone for good.
Until Annihilation came along. I am still doing a happy dance for that one. And now Thanos: Imperative. I may die from excitement. I am very glad to see more fans showing their enjoyment for Rich.
And about the name - Marvel was very alliterative back in the day. It was much easier to remember characters names when the first and last name started with the same letter. There are a lot of characters who have been around for the last ten years whose civilian names I do not remember. But I remember Richard Rider.
Jimmy
I'll always keep the Annihilation:Nova mini close to my heart. I love the moment when Rich , Drax and Cami land (helped by Quasar) on that planet and we see just how scared Rich is when put in front of a situation that big (issue 3). And than finally he realizes that he must do that and there's no going back so by the end of issue 4 you can see that child Rich is no more and that he's really matured now. We see that when we move to Annihilation issue 1 he's already leading the ground front along with Peter (we see here Nova the leader , taking a stand).
I don't know but those 4 issues are simply stunning for me, my favorite Nova moment and the moment I fell in love with DnA.
uh, so Loeb is writign Nova? Or they are writing point 1. I love how Marvel teasers juts confuse people more than excite them.
Check the link at the bottom, it gives more details - this is a 64-page one-shot written by several writers, including Loeb. It comes out in November.
Do they include "over-sized" to let us know it's going to be over-priced or because they're trying to sell us on extra pages?
Currently Reading: Astro City
Recently Finished: Queen & Country Definitive Edition Vol. 2; Complete Essex County; GI Joe Civil War Compendium
I'd be happier if Loeb never touched Nova, but I do love McGuinness' touch on the character
There are four stages of matter. Solid. Liquid. Gas & Don't. It's science.
I am a male. Deal with it.
So Nova is joining the Future Foundation?
Well I guess it could use a few more names. The little kid brigade cannot float that ship alone. Still are they ever going to bring back Night Thrasher. I mean he died before Nova and now this makes him the only original new warrior still dead.
