Nova being one of my favorite Marvel characters I decided to start this thread for all of Nova related discussions and to also help myself keeping track with everything (i also did a quick search and didn't find any appreciation thread on the character).
I love the fact that Marvel has put a lot more spotlight on Nova lately and that he's currently the cosmic no. 1 hero and also being included in the current roaster of the Secret Avengers. I hope this will bring him even more popularity and love from the fans.
Big thanks are in order for DnA for what they've done with the character in the past years and their AWESOME run on Nova series ( the Nova volume 1 Hardcover is my favorite book of all time ).
So what do you guys think? Please share your thoughts, ideas, etc.
Oh my god, his name is actually Dick Rider? I did not know this.

I know, right? Someone REALLY dropped the ball when coming up with that name.
But yeah, love Nova. Annihilation rocked, and even though the past year hasnt been too good for his book, I hope he gets a return to awesomeness in the Thanos Imperative. And now hes an Avenger, which should be alot of fun.
I'm pretty sure his designations Nova Centurian Prime now, seeing as how the core is being rebuilt from him up and Ko was 0001 before she was killed and became the world mind.
I've really dug his new series and wonder if i should check out the one from the 90's
they label me a villain cause of how I express my feelings
The '70s series is completely collected in the one Essentials volume, so it's pretty easy to check out. It's very much of its era, but it sets up a lot of Nova's classic elements. Fair warning, though, it ends with the main storyline incomplete. Marv eventually resolved it in a Fantastic Four storyline (#206 and 208-209, collected in the "In Search of Galactus" hardcover). The mid-'90s series . . . if you're interested in Nova's adventures in that era, New Warriors is a better choice. The late '90s series was a lot of fun, but it was sadly cut short.

Dick Rider . . . . . LMAO. For some reason I never considered that connotation before.
Anyway, I wasn't that big a fan of the character until DnA took over on him. There writing of him has been so great that I actually bought Secret Avengers #1 just because it had Nova in it. I just hope that Brubaker and anyone else in the future who gets their hands on Nova continues the character growth that DnA gave him and doesn't return him to the hotheaded rookie he's usually written as.
As a kid I was always a big fan of the one with Spider-Man, might have been issue 12? Murder mystery issue. Fun story.
No worries about tying up the loose ends with Nova's initial run, I have the FF/SS Complete Collection DVD, so those FF issues would be easily accessible.
Not entirely sure I would like the New Warriors stuff...but if I could get it cheap, might as well give it a shot.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Well it's great to see another new Nova fan wanting to share his appreciation about old Bucket Head! I've been a Nova fan for -well a very long time - since I picked up Issue 6 of the original 70's series. Don't know exactly what it was that drew attention to him, probably the costume design initially as it was very sci-fi orientated especially the helmet design, star motif, etc but once I'd read that issue I wanted more but dang the series had long been cancelled - although that was short lived when the New Warriors arrived. I started collecting every back issue I could and what appealed to me was Rich was an ordinary teen with loving parents, annoying little brother, bullied at school and yet after getting zapped by a bolt from the blue became a hero that did everything as best as he could - though early Rich lost more than winning! Even so, a highlight of Vol 1 was when he clobbered Thor!!
In 2002 after going on the net I found the Nova Prime Page - which I contribute to every so often, as a new Nova fan I'd recommend a visit and joining the Yahoo group- there's Nova fans all across the globe that regulary talk about Nova, powers, etc as well as contributions from Nova artists and fans. But yes, Nova for the early part, was very much a third -fourth tier hero, until Annihilation came along. That series and the subsequent creativity of DNA, have really propelled the Human Rocket into the big leagues - I've followed Abnett's work on 2000AD over here in the UK and he's has great respect, drive and imagination for SF style stuff so having him and Andy Lanning do Nova was a match made in heaven. Anyhow, visit NPP at www.novaprimepage.com. You'll be most welcome and continue to enjoy Nova in TTI!
And yes we've heard all the Dick Rider jokes -as well as the GL comparisions...part of the life of being a Nova fan but hey, we're used to them! Daz. UK
