Disappointed with the loss of the one-and-done format, but I have to agree with them; after five + years of it I don't see that aspect drawing in new fans, and its not like Jimmy and Justin are untested at doing longer stories. I'm also not a huge fan of the Gotham setting, but I trust go well and I'm very pleased to hear of the rotating back-up artists.
Most interesting book of the week imo. I'd like to see some single issue stories, but it's not like I really mind.
I too am a bigger fan of the stand-alone issues. But I can live w/o it (I could've swore DC said a big aspect of the relaunch was having single-issue stories...that appears to not be the case). I'm most excited for Moritat's art.
Comics were happier before the Internet turned writing superhero stories into fruitless attempts to impress/entertain a small group of ppl who appear to hate comics and their creators.

I am still trying to figure out why this is being called "All-Star Western" when the main story takes place on the east coast in Gotham City.

DC only said that writers won't have to write for the trades. Writers choose how long they want their arcs and editors have to worry about how to collect them. Some writers will enjoy this freedom. Others will have to be weened off the trade tit. To each his own.
All-Star Western will be different from Jonah Hex due to the location. He won't be traveling as much so one-and-done may not allways fit each arc.
PG is one of the most acclaimed creators in my eyes after their awesome Hex run. I didnt read their series only for stand alone format. Story arc or not doesnt matter.
Although i question them for the first time. Gotham History, Batman history angle sound like permanent monthly thing. Sounds terrible and not fit a western series. I hope its not permanent and if All Star isnt like Hex own series then there is no point to it in my eyes.
It cant be DCnu Batman comic like the others even alittle....
Pull List:
The Walking Dead,Fatale,Near Death,Storm Dogs,Happy,BPRD,XO-Manowar
American Vampire,Animal Man,Swamp Thing
Daredevil, Winter Soldier,Indestructible Hulk

They said they would explore other DCU locations too, so presumably it just starts in Gotham, probably as a hook to get some of the superhero crowd to give it a try.
They said they would not dictate the length of arcs, that the writers would choose how long their stories will be. If the writer chooses arcs, that's what it will be.
Anyway. read the interview. It all sounds good to me. :)

I didn't even know Palmiotti and Gray had done a Jonah Hex series. The only thing by them I'd ever read was their very fun run on Power Girl. I'll have to check this out as well as their Jonah Hex series.
It sounds like they'll be exploring other cities and such within this series along with other characters besides Hex. Sounds fun to me.
Moritat is cool, but if he's on the book as regular artist, I guess it means less Bernet. Boo.
I'll probably pick this up now that I read the Teen Titans preview.
2 reasons:
1. Its Hex's orignal title
2. Just like they've done with Mystery in Space, Strange Adventures, Weird World, and the upcoming My Greatest Adventure, they've brought the title back to keep the copyright on it.
It just so happens this one they're sticking with as an ongoing. So obviously its more #2 for a reason then #1.
