Yeah, I was going to say, haha. But that's alright.

The thing that's also throwing me is Skinner's line about Travis' blood reminding him of the west. Then you'd have to guess maybe Travis is related to the Books? But the only possible mother would be Felicia, and there's nothing to really say she had a kid.

I don't know, tomorrow just needs to come.

I'm thinking the other way FHIZ. I'm thinking that Travis is related to Skinner.

Think about something. Why does Travis have the same sneer and nose and face as Skinner? Well that's an easy one. He was the hired force in the Devil in the Sand arc. He was with the prostitutes then. If Book can have a spawn who has vampire blood, why can't Skinner?

I'm also thinking that the main thrust that will explain how Skinner came back will have to do with the fact that Travis' parents were killed at about age 9. If Travis was born in 1935, it would be a reasonable timeline from the Ghost War arc to assume that Skinner came back from the Pacific a year after that story. Ghost War took place in 1943. Travis Kidd's parents were presumably murdered by Sweet in 1944 in Las Vegas. From there, Travis was sent to the La Jolla Sanitarium.
That's what I'm assuming now only because the Lord of Nightmares mini solicit info has pretty much stated that the status quo of Gus is that he's with Felicia. That arc is also going to firmly placed in the 1950's, too.

I feel like Skinner would know that instantly tasting his blood, not just being "reminded" of the west. He'd also make a note about the kid being half vampire, like something similar that happened to Felicia. Oh well, we'll find out today, I guess!

EDIT: Thinking about that possibility again, it would fit the "1950s Rebel Without a Cause, going against your parents" sort of themes Snyder said Travis was meant to embody.

EDIT 2: But also, wouldn't the gold Travis ingested f him up?

This issue blindsided me. Scott had already alluded to a lot of this, but wow.

EDIT: I wish there was a bit more to Travis than we all thought, but this issue opened up a new can of worms.

A little disappointed with Travis' origin since he has no connection to known characters, but the twist with Skinner was worth it.

Ha! Yeah. It was a great issue. I hope we find out about the Skinner stuff in Lord of Nightmares. The ending is surprising, as from what Snyder said, it sounds like Henry is going to be around for the Blacklist... maybe out of desperation Pearl finally does it.

Also, the thing with Piper was unexpected. But Travis is one BAD ASS MOTHER %&#@ER. I hope next summer there's a third mini, and it's about him.

Definitely yes to all of your points. And now that we know that Travis isn't Gus, I'm excited to see what Scott has in store for both of them.

And about Piper, I didn't really like what happened, but I totally get it, and it allows for a complete closure of the arc.

What did I just read? That was an insane arc, insane final issue. So much happened, so many reveals! This is why I've been sticking to the hardcovers but couldn't resist reading this arc monthly. Now as usual I wish I didn't have to wait so damn long haha
Currently enjoying: Batman, Batwoman, Dial H, Detective Comics, American Vampire, Saga, The Manhattan Projects, Locke and Key, Atomic Robo, East of West...

I finally got to read issue 25... great issue indeed! I was totally blindsided with the Travis twist.. he wasn't Gus after all. Then again, I'm with some of you guys.. I was also disappointed with his origin with that he wasn't really connected to the other past characters. About the Skinner twist though, I kinda saw it that he was into some arrangement with the Vassals with him getting to survive and living in some "nice apartment" as Travis pointed out--but him as an actual "Agent Sweet"!?!?! Badass! This arc definitely made up for Skinner-Book prequel which was a bit disappointing to me. I can't wait for the next arc!

How did you guys get your hands on a copy of AV 25? It isn't on Diamond's shipping list for this week (Mar. 28), and it didn't ship to my local store. It is on next week's shipping list.

Did you read it digitally (which is available now)?

Count me as just curious. I've been awaiting the conclusion of this story arc with baited breath, but still perfectly OK with waiting another week.

there was a shipping screw up to the west coast apparently. East coast got it (don't know where the cut off is for anything in between) and it's available digital.

Is anyone up to predicting where the series may head? So far, my psychic powers tell me this: By the end of the next major arc, Skinner will either be free of The Vassals' influence, or going to war with them. Between his eternal lust for freedom and Travis' conversation with him, he's definitely feeling insecure, shamed, and enraged. This will probably lead him to using the Red Scare blacklist to incriminate various members of the Vassals. If not, maybe he'll be feeling crazy (well, crazier than usual) and desperate enough to either create a few new vampires to aid him, or make a deal with the European species.

Also, does anyone else have the feeling Jim Book may still be alive? We've seen American Vampires come back from some pretty brutal beatings, and he wasn't even attacked with gold.
