    Default Supernatural

Since the new season begins tomorrow night I thought it was time for a thread. I've been looking forward to this premiere more then most.

We left off last season with Castiel getting a major power up by absorbing a whole boatload of souls, referring to himself as the new God. The wall that Sam had inside his head was removed by Castiel causing all his memories from his time spent with Michael and Lucifer to return. Even with that, Sam hasn't gone catatonic, though he's obviously not out of the woods yet. Raphael is dead and Crowley is on the run. The last scene we see is Castiel basically telling Sam and Dean to bow before him. Which I think we all know they are not going to do.

Anyways, seems like this new season will be promising. One thing we know is that Death is making a return this season, possibly in the first episode. Another thing the producers have said the season will focus on is the redemption of Castiel.

The big question for me though is if this is going to be the last season or not. Now I think the best seasons of the show were the 4th and 5th, but I think the show still has a season or two left in it(not counting season 7).

I'm looking forward to the return of Supernatural as well, although I am a little concered about where the story is going to go this season. Will Castiel be the big bad all season long? If not, then who? Will the real God finally make an appearance? Is Death, Michael, or Lucifer going to return to stand up to Cas?

Last season wasnt the greatest, but there is no way I'm not going to watch season 7.
Dean: So, what do we do now?
Castiel: I suggest we imbibe copious quantities of alcohol... just wait for the inevitable blast wave.

I hope Castiel isn't the big bad, I'd like to see that he gets depowered somehow and has a redemption arc down the road. I think an even bigger big bad is in the works but whoever it is I hope it wont be as lame as Eve was. Something tells me Michael and Lucifer might return, just to restore order

I can't say I'm really excited about this season. I'm still smarting over the whole Eve debacle and meandering season plot-line. However, I sure I'll end up watching anyway.

I wonder if Cas will end up with some type of redemption story or if they will go with the less obvious route and keep him as an unrepentant villain.

Kinda torn. On one hand if Cas does get killed then that ends the last link to that whole Angels arc that have been going on for the past three seasons and maybe by Season 8 it would go back to the standard formula of Sam and Dean hunting monsters of urban legend. On the other hand I like Cas and I find his character complelling. I would personally like to see Cas be defeated but not killed, just depowered. Like to see a possible spin off that involve him in a Kung Fu like setting that has him wandering the earth, battling demons, while seeking redemption for his past deeds

    Spoiler tags just incase

    spoilers:
From the looks of the trailer we see a badly beatened up Cas so that leaves me to believe that Cas's godhood is possibly cut short and he not only ends up depowered but gets his ass kicked for his troubles
    end of spoilers

I was underwhelmed with the last season, but I love the characters so much I keep watching...sometimes it just takes a few days before I get around to viewing the DVR. Hopefully this season will be stronger.

    With regards to Castiel...

    spoilers:
...Misha Collins will no longer be a regular cast member and is back to recurring guest star, which does not bode well for the fate of his character! :(

Loved last season so I'm looking forward to see where they go with Castiel as the new god.

Supernatural is possibly my favorite show of all time but Fringe is really good too. I'm torn but right now I'm leaning towards watching Fringe live and Supernatural online just because Fringe was so good last season while Supernatural was below average (on Supernatural scale, compared to other shows it was excellent).

Um, yeah, I didn't think it was a spoiler. But, I'll play along:
    spoilers:
It was always the plan to slowly phase Castiel out this season. This was common knowledge a few months after the finale. Apparently fans put together writing campaigns to prevent this from happening. I'm not sure if it was successful, but it makes me think they should give Castiel a spinoff series. Apparently a fan base exists for him.
    end of spoilers

I have this idea for the next X-teme Games Gold Medal Event--Bear Tickling. Its like Bull riding but more X-treme! You are timed on how long you can tickle a bear before he attacks you.

The whole "sky is falling" thing from the Mischaholics over Cass's role being reduced is hilarious. Cas is now a recurring character just like another Supernatural character named Bobby and Bobby shows up about every other episode.

I always get my hopes up for this show and I always end up disappointed. Supernatural's minimalist special effects style worked really well when they were on the road hunting monsters, even when Demon's came into play it was really enjoyable. But then when Angel's came in and key events were happening off screen and the whole thing turned into some kind of massive light show, it just felt like the kind of film I'd make at college only with a bigger budget. Some of it even seems to be filmed on a handcam. And so I just find Supernatural these days extremely low quality. The battles are underwhelming, the special effects are just so cheap feeling and their internal continuity and mythos is just a mess. And people keep talking about Sam and Dean just getting back to the road and hunting monsters again, but I dunno if they ever can with all that is happened for the last few seasons, not without an elephant in the room at least.
