Like what he says about villains. Can't wait to see more.
Nightwing #1 was really good, apart from the page where Dick trusts two Gotham cops to hold off a bad guy until he can change into his costume, leading to the cops being killed in seconds.
That hiccup aside, it was a good start, about on par with the #1 of the Dixon/McDaniel era.

I'm still going back and forth between picking this up when the price drops on digital. I'd like to be reading about Dick Grayson but I loathe this idea that Nightwing is "Who he really is" or that being Nightwing is "Being his own man" or getting out of Bruce's shadow anymore then being Batman was. It doesn't ring true to me at all. Just like the idea that Dick being Batman wasn't
I dunno. I thought the concept of Batmen worked, I thought Dick as Batman worked even better. And honestly, Dick's tenure as Batman is the only reason I'm even considering picking this book up because imo he hasn't had a lot of great showings as Nightwing since NTT. Not since I started reading the character at least. Which was in the middle of Devon Grayson's Run leading up to Infinite Crisis and buying it through Wolfman's run and a few issues into Tomasi's run before I just had to walk away cause it was god awful with the Bruce-Lite shit and seriously put Dick deeper in Batman's shadow then being Batman ever could.
Is the "OMG I'M NIGHTWING YAY" stuff really prevalent throughout this book? I feel like trying to prioritize one role over the other is a mistake. And as a fan of his tenure as Batman it would really off to the book and make it not worth my money.

Don't worry.
My brother and sister of the atom.
We are the X-men, and we stand together
Its not. He mentions that it feels good to be his own person again in the intro but its not dwelled on. After the preview its pretty much just groundwork for the future stories thats laid down with some more action at the end. What I like is that Higgins actually reflects how being Batman made him better overall and I hope we continue to see more of that as the book continues.

So he's going to bring James Jr into the book?
Well, however long I last on this title (I'm giving it at least one more issue), the moment the brilliant aspect of James Jr, psychopath, comes into the book, I'll have dropped the book immediately.

You gonna get us out of here. With that tight-ass Wolverine outfit on. Now, let's make it happen, asshole
YOST: Okay, it's not Jean Grey. Nobody likes her
I don't like that they seem to be trying to distance both Nightwing and Deathstroke from the Titans. I get that it's a "new" DC Universe and all, but that's still a huge part of both characters' histories to be sweeping aside.
