    Default Well-written Superman Storylines.

I have read Death of Superman, & a few random Superman issues.
I am looking for recommendations for some well written storylines.

In Superhero comics, I love Alan Moore's Miracleman, Swamp Thing, Watchmen & Supreme.
Also, Grant Morrison's Animal Man, Doom Patrol, All-Star Superman.

Some other series I have high regard for are:
    Planetary
    Umbrella Academy
    Superman: Red Son

what Superman storyline can be recommended to my reading taste.

There's Alan Moore's two direct goes at Superman, since you mentioned him explicitly. "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader" and "For the Man Who Has Everything".

Mark Waid and Leinil Yu did a great origin/early Superman tale with "Birthright", which is available online for 99 cents an issue if you'd rather that than a tpb copy.

If Death of Superman was your speed, there's the Retroactive 90's issue, by Louise Simonson and Jon Bogdanove, which was interesting enough.

And, there's Elliot S! Maggin's work with Superman, which covers many individual issues and a few novels, the novels being particularly great in terms of covering things the page count and parameters of the comics did not functionally allow. I understand at least the novel Miracle Monday is available online free, but I'm not sure where (google for it, I guess) or whether it's available legally or not (hint: if they've put in an indicia that says "please don't sue" or fan-something-something, it's pr'y not legal).

    Hope that helps.

I cannot fathom why we don't have a sticky thread for this yet like the Batman forums.

I agree with this seeing as. Although I just want to make a quick correction, T Hedge Coke meant Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow. Alan Moore's stories are very silver age which personally I'm not too fond of, although if you like All-Star, you'll probably love this.

Birthright is modern and it is absolutely brilliant. The definitive Superman origin story in my opinion.

Naturally, any recommendation list for Superman has to include Kingdom Come as well. My personal favourite story; get it, if only for the art.
Your name is Kal-El. You are the only survivor of the planet Krypton. Even though you've been raised as a human being, you are not one of them

I'll echo Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow.

Also I don't think anyone's mentioned Secret Identity. That's one of the best Superman stories ever (even if it isn't really a proper Superman story).
    Camelot Falls is good too.

I'd say Man of Steel, For all Seasons, Birthright, Secret Origins, the triangle era up until at least the wedding, Morrison/Waid/Kelly JLA runs, Secret Identity, Kingdom Come, JLA: The Nail, Red Son, Greatest Superman Stories Ever Told, Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow, Dini/Ross tabloid book, JLA/Avengers, Justice, Action 775 and 800, All Star Superman, Superman Adventures trades...I like Superman.

Thanks for all the suggestions.. I'm already familiar with "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" and "For the Man Who Has Everything"..
I should have mentioned that "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" is one of my all time favorite Superman story.

Checking out the rest of the suggestions.. I have read few issues of Birthright, Never completed it, I remember loving it.. I'll catch up on it now.
I remember reading ACTION COMICS #775 long ago after someone suggested it to me. That was a great read.

Also, I am looking for storylines that hint upon themes of Existentialism.. or maybe stories based on the idea that Superman is indeed godlike.

I'd say get the Man of Steel mini, and if you like that keep going.
