Footage from THQ's canceled "Avengers" game has leaked, teasing gaming fans with a glimpse of what might have been, including first-person gameplay, massive violence and an X-Men-powered Super Skrull.

I saw this on IGN this weekend and it looked great (from what you could see) but it looked unusually violent and bloody for a Marvel game and the FPS did not seem to lend itself to well to a game based on a universe where they usually answer thier problems by beating its brains in. (DC usually tries to out think their enemies, marvel punches it in the face.)

I guess this means that an Avengers game is going to be extremely rushed and probably poor quality

The most interesting part of these screenshots is that they feature an X-Men Super-Skrull. This leads me to ask : could the Avengers movie feature a villain with the powers of the X-Men, as a way to suggest both teams share a universe without ever directly referring to the X-Men by name because Fox owns those rights?

For instance, would Marvel be violating any terms by featuring a Super-Skrull with Cyclops' visor and Wolverine's claws?

It's an easy side-step. There isn't a patent on eye-beams, so you could just have it shoot those(Remember, a Skrull wouldn't need Scott's visor), and the SNIKT might be trademarked in letter form, I'm less confident that the sound is, and the sharpness can be traced to unobtanium or what have you.

I'm pretty sure the Skrulls have been confirmed. Maybe not officially, but on set photo's have leaked which suggest the Skrulls.

There won't be a licensing disagreement because the Super Skrull who mimics the X-men actually appears in one of the comics during the Skrull Invasion. This x-Skrull is not an original creation for this game. They had lots of amalgamated super skrulls during this storyline.
