Alright, I know I'm going to be flamed for being a continuity whore, but just curious what everyone else thinks about this:
POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR SWAMP THING, JLI and SUPERBOY #1
In 'Swamp Thing' #1, Superman confirms that he has died: "I know how hard it can be coming back... how strange your old life can feel afterward."
So, Superman died.
What parts of the 'Death' are going to be canon, then? Obviously Superboy isn't a product of the death, at least not in the way we knew that he was before. Does John Henry exist? The Eradicator? Who helped try to take down Doomsday, if not the "Justice League International?" We find out in JLI #1 that none of them know each other at all. So, it wasn't that team. Who cradled Superman as he died if not Lois?
The reboot itself doesn't irritate me so much as the picking and choosing of pre-existing continuity. Why bother even having him die before at all? I'm a 25-year Superman veteran and I never thought that the death really added anything of value itself; the characters surrounding the death were way more important than the story (namely, we got Steel and Kon-El out of the deal).
