I realize sometimes that BMB haters are quite vocal a group and I am in no way saying anything that hasn't been said. This forum doesn't need another Bendis bashing thread, as any thread that is remotely Bendis related aught to do the trick.

But he does get it sooo wrong sometime, that I kind of look forward to what he's going to come up with next.

So here's a few choice occasions when Marvel's best selling writer got it so goddamned wrong.

...And then, and this is what spawned this thread, we have Tony Stark, who for being SHIELD director for a time, seems very poorly informed on cloak and dagger affairs.

But Bullseye is a better marksman, imo. He's dead though so he doesn't necessarily count.

"You're gonna need a bigger thread."

To do my part, I'll nominate the multiple gaffes from NA #1 (Jigsaw breaks Spidey's arm, deceased villain Cutthroat shows up alive for no reason, Carnage described as a "vampire," and so on). That issue was a trainwreck.

Matt's talking about himself, because he's the new team member. And I'm pretty sure OP included it as fail because of Jessica being a better spy than Natasha according to Tony. (Which is a bit odd, because Bendis himself wrote Natasha as an integral part of Tony's SHIELD administration, and as the one person who suspected skrull Jessica Drew of being something besides what she seemed.)

What makes Doom such a fascinating character (to me) is his twisted sense of honor and his unique code of what he would consider ethics. There's no doubt he's a bad guy - skin armor made from his girlfriend, anyone? - but that particular outburst was ...uncontrolled. It felt too exclamatory. The Doom *I* know and love would've cut Carol to the bone with a few terse words, not insult her weight.

Yeah, between the fact that Bullseye is dead (though I'm sure that won't last) and the fact that Jessica is probably banging Clint, I think we can excuse Jessica for giving the not to her boyfriend or whatever.

If she were banging Bullseye, odds are she might show a bit of favoratism the other way.

Oh, I don't think that bit is an example of Bendis's failure as a writer. It makes perfect sense for Avengers to praise Clint as the best marksman in the world— he bills himself that way.
