Am I the only one that doesn't like how pale Kate is? Its creepy. It works when she's in costume but out of it I don't like it.
No, I think it's a great part of her character now. How many other characters in the bat-family of books have remotely unique associations with contemporary culture? We know Bruce Wayne plays the yuppie in his public persona, but I don't recall too many stories telling us what kind of stuff he actually enjoys, save for Zorro.
Kate's look given to her by Williams III is great, and sets her apart from what she was in 52, which was basically a lesbian version of Bruce with red hair.
I don't hate it because of the white-ness (although it's kind of off putting when around everyone else) but I just hate how much it makes no sense when she was Caucasian in 52. 52 was the best look for her, personally.
She's still caucasian. Just because she got paler - and I'm fairly certain it was explained by Rucka that her new look was a result of trauma from basically being stabbed in the heart, although that didn't entirely mesh with the 'Go' story - doesn't mean she isn't caucasian.
So Bette Kane still used to be a member of Titans in this "new" continuity? I thought the Teen Titans were just starting up. Just a minor detail, but one of many continuity snafus in this soft reboot. We're very much approaching Bette Kane from a fresh perspective but acknowledging that she does have a comic past. Some of her lines see her referring to her time with the Titans and that kinds of stuff.
The current incarnation of the Teen Titans is just beginning, but the group existed in previous incarnations, we'd already been told that Nightwing, Cyborg and Starfire's histories with the New Teen Titans occurred in some form in the new relaunched DC universe. Geoff Johns said Cyborg will be set up to join the New Teen Titans following his new origin in the flashback arc in the first several issues of the Justice League.
