I believe so, but WETA should definitely do the animation for it and make it similar to the recent TinTin movie they are doing.

Why bother? Mocap stinks. It's best used for putting animated characters in a live-action movie that couldn't otherwise be realized. Making a whole mocap movie? Pfft. I give you Polar Express, Beowulf, and others. Crap, crap, and more crap.
If you're gonna make the entire film CG, then let CG ANIMATORS get to do what they do, not just tweak mocapped performances... and let the designers go nuts and make something fun, not "realistic cat-people".
Face it, Thundercats aren't human beings and would be right for Mocap including the creatures and Mumm-Ra.
WETA has conquered the uncanny valley even from the looks of the new stills for TinTin, i mean Thundercats won't be uncanny valley and the eyes won't be dead looking since WETA has destroyed that.
It's not Polar Express but more on Avatar, Rise of the Apes or the TinTin movie.
Honestly, they look very human. Other than pointed ears and tufts of extra facial hair, they look like people. The makeup guys from "Cats" would probably do just as good a job as mocap. If you're going to justify the cost of CG effects then I'd say make the Cats a bit more uh "cat like"
"Honest Abe's a 'mo!" - Hank Venture from the Venture Bros.
Yes, I've changed my mind, you're quite right, all the characters in a Thundercats movie should move like mocapped humans, including the creatures and Mumm-Ra. That's a perfect justification for it.
If you're gonna do a CG Thundercats movie, screw mocap. Leave it out. There's enough talented animators out there to explore more interesting ways for the 'Cats and other creatures to move than just having people dress up in funny mocap suits and try to move more 'catlike' or 'lizardlike'. If it's gonna be for the WHOLE MOVIE, then just ANIMATE it. Let animators shine, not PR garbage about the mocap stuff doing all the work.
But really, I don't wanna see a Thundercats movie. Not until after the new series has run its course, at least.
