Anybody stupid enough to think that getting rid of Planned Parenthood would somehow result in fewer abortions shouldn't even be allowed near a voting booth, much less the White House.

I'm blown away that Ann Coulture can actually say that she thinks women having the right to vote should be repealed, and no one really ever even addresses that when she spews her other bullshit.

Nate Silver's makes it look like Obama can win without Ohio at this point, but I'm not convinced that Obama will be winning Colorado and Virginia. Take those two states and Ohio out of the picture, and Obama has 263 electoral votes while Romney has 257. Will the race be called based on those totals? Or will we all need to wait until Ohio is counted because it has enough votes to swing the outcome? And will the Supreme Court intercede again, making their 9 votes more important than those of all the voters?

You mean if Romney does indeed win both Colorado and Virginia? Without any of that trio being counted, isn't it 263-235 Obama assuming everything else goes as figured?

US politics confound me. How can Obama and Romney be neck and neck in the polls when the electorate includes women, non-whites and non-rich people?

Well, a lot of women, non-whites, and non-rich people don't like those other women, non-whites, and non-rich people. (Also, those evil, evil poofs and their poofness, that's always a good vote-winner) It's not just America, screeds about the hordes of welfare cheats is a common theme in tabloids aimed at the working class here.

Well that, and the only reason they even changed it at all was because they would have lost their tax exempt status because of that doctrine.

He can protest all he wants. They were teaching exactly that in church and seminary as late as the mid-70s.

I know this is what was taught because my dad and his folks are Mormon and they told me so. My dad also believes in Native Americans as the lost tribe of Israel and how all the ones that are alive are the descendants of the bad ones(Nephites or something; it's been a while). Keep in mind my mother(who is not Mormon and believes none of it) worked for Native American Health Services in Gallup, NM for over a year and my dad came along. My dad spent time on the Navaho Res, made multiple friends there, was as immersed in the culture as someone can be, and was not once moved to change his views.

There are aspects of the Mormon faith that have merit. Their views on people that aren't white males are not among them.

Well, sorta. As I said, my dad Is Mormon, as is pretty much everyone on his side of the family. My mother is not and rather dislikes the faith.

I attended church and sunday school for many years and was also Baptised Mormon(only kid who was; my mom pulled us out before either my sister or brother had reached the age of accountability). I may even still be in their records.

We also had constant visits from Church Elders over the years after we left the faith(and man did my mom and us kids HATE that. They were so damn pushy).

When I was 19, I also tried and re-establish a good relationship with my dad, which meant attending church services for a number of months.

So yeah, I didn't embody the average Mormon household, but I've had A LOT of exposure to the church and it's teachings.
