Since Swiss bank accounts (and the Cayman Islands) are traditionally places Americans shelter cash from taxes and remove money from the US economy, it generally IS a bad thing.

Speaking of Romney being unfavorable... only one current poll has him ranked at favorable... by 1%. The rest, he's leaning about -5%.

Obama, in comparison, is averaging +5%, currently.

The polls for AZ range from Obama +2 to Romney +11. I guess it depends on whether the pollster predict a higher mormon or Hispanic turnout.

It is. One of the largest Mormon temples, period, is in Mesa, AZ. Gilbert, AZ also has a large Mormon concentration. I've heard some Christian folks there claim they were denied jobs for not being LDS. Quite often, in fact.

Frankly, I'm surprised that some polls even have Arizona as still "up in the air". It's decidedly a red state, but the GOP may have just pissed off the state's Hispanic and female voters to give Obama a fighting chance against Romney here, in spite of the strong Mormon support he'd supposedly get.

Well, maybe he would have had the sense to tell the woman she was incorrect... if he wasn't already flustered from a previous question at the same campaign stop, where a woman dogged him out for keeping all of his money in overseas bank accounts, therefore avoiding having it taxed, and contributing to American society like the everyday taxpayer.


Every time he allows a loon the right to speak like that, he loses independent voters who think his supporters are all bugs*** crazy. And every time he dodges questions about his taxes, and his offshore bank accounts, he loses more. Mitt just doesn't have any idea how to fix his image and win this thing.

It goes a lot deeper than that. Brigham Young established a lot of Mormon colonies in Arizona including the founding of Mesa. As a group they take voting very seriously and turn out in high numbers.

A very admirable trait regardless of their political beliefs. I wish that sort of mobilization could sweep the apathy from some other factions.
