    Loved this episode.
It was a great piece of pop samurai nostalgia.
The writing for this show has been outstanding- far and away better than the original.

My girlfriend actually started tearing up at the end of the little plant people episode.

    Thunder, THUNDER, THUNDERCATS!!!!!

So Lion-o just busted out some outright super speed out of nowhere.

I look at it as he just switched his style of battle. He had just been using raw power, charging in, but tried a different way based on the Drifter's advice. The Cats are agile, we know that from some of the physical feats we've witnessed in the series, though only the Clerics seem to have 'superspeed' in the traditional sense... but I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility for Lion-O to be quick enough to go all Matrix-y if he set his mind to it.

It's like Superman: you've got a dozen superpowers, but you don't use 'em ALL at once, generally, and for storytelling purposes the first thing to go is generally speed. If writers used the powers to their full potential, Flash and Superman (among others) would take down their foes with ridiculous ease. I think the same could be said for the 'Cats... they've got natural agility that they take for granted. With the sword fighting, Lion-O was focused on sword skills, and his perspective on how to use a sword based on his own training AND lack of experience. The Drifter pointed him in a different direction... though I doubt we'll see much of that going forward, except perhaps in return appearances of the Duelist and/or Drifter. It'd be nice to see them take into account what he learned from the Drifter in the way he fights in future episodes...

Didn't catch this until watching the repeat, but the swordsmith/drifter is named Hittanzo -- surely a play on Hittori Hanzo famous samurai and ninja master of Japan's Sengoku era.

IIRC they went on a six week hiatus about a month ago. But I haven't heard anything since. Especially not any promos or anything for the new episode(s).
