I haven't mentioned it before but I really like Batman's costume on this show.
Alfred's design is meh, Katana's character design is just....generic I wish they had made her a little more distinct so she stands out (if you go by movies or cartoons you would think every Asian was slim, petite with long straight black hair).
I use to have this attitude before the DC nation block and I was able to watch Young Justice and Green Lantern back to back. Despite enjoying both on a similar level I noticed that the animators in GL were able to get a lot more mileage out of single scene through body language and facial expressions than YJ animators were which helped to convey emotion a bit better. I also enjoyed the more dynamic camera that exist in GL especially in action scenes like Aya vs Galia or Hal vs Carol, and if you ever watched the show in HD the lighting and shadow IMO at least look much better than in YJ.
Of course YJ and the traditional animation format has it's own advantages as well, but if Beware the Batman is able to maintain a similar level or even better than GL then it should be in good hands.
Does anybody else think those bat ears are way too big and anguler
Batman looks like bug man to me.
But except fo the ears every thing else looks good
Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
I'm sorry, but Kelley Jones has the stupidest design for Batman ever. Why the hell would Batman have horns on his head? Bats don't have horns! It looks like stupid 90s XTREEEME crap. Batman should be spared looking so stupid.
Neal Adams doesn't draw them that long, and they should be no longer than his style. Once you get longer, again...XTREEEME 90s style crap.
That is the entire point of the costume in the first place. The ears aren't supposed to be "practical". If he wanted to be practical, he'd drop the whole Bat thing completely. He's not trying to look cool. He's trying to look scary. "Criminals are a cowardly and superstitious lot."
When I see the short ears, I think Silver Age friendly Batman. Brave and the Bold cartoon Batman. Adam West Batman. Infantino Batman.
Well, you are welcome to your messed up opinion.
Well, who created the character?
Oh yeah, right, THIS GUY:
But what does he know about his own character, right?
I never liked White Shark but the possibility of reinventing him here is interesting. Guessing he's the Penguin analogue. Knowing that they're focusing on lesser known villains, and taking liberties with Alfred and Katana etc, makes this so much cooler. Batman lives and grows through reinterpretation.
They look awkward in some shots, and look fine in other promo shots.
They looked really bad in the comic tie-in they did. Though I liked the detail of using the bat-belt as a golden bat-shaped target like the yellow oval originally did.
If GWS shows up, I wonder how they'll make him stand out from Tobias Whale. They are both rather similar villains in appearance and occupation a bit.
That's more due to the skill of the animators rather than the medium. Watch something like Spectacular Spider-man and see just how many expressions, gesture and mannerisms they can have a character do over the course of a single sentence.
That's Kelly Jones style and I happen to really like it. Kelly isn't trying to do some uber realistic Batman or Gotham, he's trying to capture the darker, scarier and grotesque aspects of the character and the world. It's very expressive and stylistic and works really well depending on the story he's depicting like 'The Ape and Ogre' for example.
