    Wow...ok...reaching out to online strangers!

As a child I probably read some hardback Marvel annuals but never really was a fan. I have vague memories of Daredevil. I have always enjoyed the superhero films that have hit the cinemas over the years and had/have a working knowledge of some origin stories etc.

Anyway crashing on...I was really attracted to the New 52 as I didn't need a knowledge of years of back story to pick them up and start reading (thought 1 year on I do find that to be not quite accurate).

I went on a bit of a spending spree picking up the #1 issues of:

    Batgirl
    Aquaman
    Superman
    Justice League
    Dark Knight
    Action Comics
    Green Lantern
    Flash

    Justice League International
    Batman
    Wonder Woman
    Detective Comics
    Catwoman
    Batwoman
    Supergirl

I read them all and picked what I felt I had the best connection with and carried on reading them for about 9 months. The ones I choose at that time are in bold. I have since gone back and bought issues #2 onwards of the ones in italics. Now I'm finding I am taking up all the Before Watchmen books (with varying interest in them) and lately have added the new He-Man comics.

I love Batman I think it has been handled brilliantly...I know some hate it but I think they will have less reason to with the new Joker arc. Snyder is doing a great job.

Justice League I have also enjoyed and love the art...that for me is a highlight of the month.

Surprisingly Catwoman and Batgirl (and I suppose Supergirl to a lesser extent) have really been great for me.

Detective and Action Comics have let me down a little but I am hanging on in there...both seem to have picked up lately...thought the villain in Detective is a bit dubious.

Superman has been so middle of the road...and after a good start so has Aquaman.

I enjoy Flash and Dark Knight (with issue 10 I think Dark Knight has changed the ball game though).

    Sorry....large post I know!

I'm a lapsed reader and I figured I'll share my 2 cents. I'm 31 and stopped reading DC/Marvel back in the mid-90's (due to getting tired of gimmicks) and completely stopped reading indie titles maybe a year later. I got sucked back into comics thanks to the curiosity of the DC New 52 reboot (which in my opinion worked in getting new readers) and so far I have been pleased with it. I originally only planned on buying a few titles last September, but was pleasantly surprised on how good some of the titles were (Animal Man, Batwoman) I ended up buying most of the #1's. I eventually dropped quite a few titles due to costs and now I'm strongly considering after this September to stop buying the titles every month and wait to buy the trade paperbacks to help save on money.

I read Marvel comics in the 70s, mainly the UK reprints but also US imports when I could find them. I quit buying them during the Dark Phoenix Saga.

In the late 80s/early 90s I bought the trades of The Dark Knight Returns, Year One, The Killing Joke, Daredevil: Born Again. Later on I started buying the trades for the Sandman, and completed Preacher in single issues. I returned to Marvel when Age of Apocalypse came around since it provided a good jumping on point. I did collect normal X-books when the event finished but got increasingly annoyed with them, until I finally stopped buying them when Grant Morrison started New X-Men.

I picked up more trades along the years of the Batman Elseworld titles, but was kind of scared off DC because of all the long back-history. Instead I got into anime and manga.

When I found out about digital comics I became interested again, but the Marvel stuff seemed horribly convoluted (I used wiki to read over the main storylines). But DC had the New 52 starting so I jumped on board, hoping the reboot would let me in at a good starting point. I bought all the #1s and have continued buying most of them. I've also used comixology sales to pick up older books which I've really enjoyed. My favourite pre-New 52 book is Power Girl, a character I'd never even heard of until I saw the books on sale.

Hey you stole my story man! Except I'm only getting 6 titles so I still get them monthly, never been big on TPB.

Im 22 and I was always a big fan of the DC universe but got into comics recently since comics are hard to come by in Croatia.

I thought the New 52 was a good start so I started out with Batman,Nightwing and Justice League but stopped there and decided to go back
to the "older" universe and got all the Batman classics and most of Johns Green Lantern run, Infinite Crisis and so on... but not stopping there :D

Thanks to the New 52 DC got a lot of new readers, although reading the older stuff I wished the reboot didnt happen...

I'm 24 and I've read comics for 3 years now. I started with Watchmen and Frank Miller's Dark Knight, and quickly became addict.

I am 30 years old. Myself and my wife moved from Boston MA to San Diego CA over two years ago. About 3 years ago I stopped reading to save money for the big move. I never really went back. Recently I have been reading online and started to buy books again. I literally collected comics (mostly DC) since I was about 2 years old. I am a GIANT Batman fan. When I heard of the NEW 52 I was very much turned off. I could not understand how DC did this. Until a few months ago I see why they did but there are still so many questions (very upset about a few things). I am back on board with DC though. Not all titles but mostly Batman and Flash. I am also a GIANT Green Arrow fan but for some reason I cant see this new Ollie like the old one. Maybe down the line I will pick it up. Same with JSA. Sorry but Superman looks like a young kid and will not buy that book just because of the art.

35 and getting back into comics, or should i say, pulled back into comics by the New52!

I started out reading whatever i could find in the newsagents when i was a kid in the UK, so UK reprints of Marvel / DC as well as UK funnies like Beano and yes, Commando! I was a big fan of both Spiderman and Superman back then, but had no real concept of repeat purchase through long series.

Around 93 I found a friend of a friend was buying in Previews and ordering in direct from the states (we actually had no comic shop on the island where i come from), i ended up with a pull list made up of mostly DC titles and collected through until late 2001. I can't really remember why I stopped buying around that time, though I do recall getting annoyed with both the local comic shop where i live in Zurich and with the German shop i was using - most likely due to my poor German skills (I moved over to Switzerland shortly before 2000).

I started reading again a couple of months ago when I was on holiday and found that DC had rebooted with the New52, and that there was an app available for the iPad where I could download both Marvel and DC, same day as print. The combination of these two things gave me the perfect excuse to jump back in and buy quite number of the new52 titles back to #1.

I have been a casual comic book fan for many years. I typically only paid attention to Marvel, but when DC rebooted, I figured it would be the perfect time to start reading DC books. 90% of the books I'm reading now are DC.

I'm from 1973 (39 now) and never really read any comics. This is mainly because they were not available in my launguage (dutch) when I was a kid. However, Superman and Batman where always well-known 'superheros' and for some reason I've always known that they came from comic books more than just films. I've grown to have a great appreciation of everything that had to do with Batman and Gotham City. Batman The Animated Series had a huge impact on me as I recognised it as being the first cartoon series that didn't have non-stop background music and also came with camera-angles that were very much like real movies (such as close ups from car headlights in a car-chase). Batman was awesome. And I really fell in love with Catwoman too in Batman Returns, and yes I DO mean cat woman, not Michelle Pfeiffer...

A few weeks ago I was thinking about all my Batman fandom and said to myself... I should get myself some real comics! So I started browsing the net to see what was available and learned about the new 52. That was not even a year ago! I could still 'catch up'. So I have described to Batman and Catwoman on the DC website and have also decided to add Detective Comics and Nightwing to that. I found Batman issues #1-7 (with issue 1 and another one Variant covers) for £19, Catwoman #1-10 for £15, Detective Comics #1-10 and Nightwing #1-6 for £23. I topped them all up till their latest issue #11 and they are all first prints and including postage.
Detective Comics and Nightwing are still to be received, and I'm now at #4 of both Batman and Catwoman. I can easily read the lot in one go, but I want to spread them out a bit to simulate 'anticipation'.

So I'm totally new to comics and I seriously love them. I can't believe I haven't done this sooner...

I was never into comics. I bought a few Transformers as a kid but that's it. I got into the Walking Dead tv show and started reading the comic. That pretty much got me interested in comics in general and I learned about the New 52. Current DC comics I'm reading are Animal Man and Swamp Thing.

I'm not a huge fan of superheroes in tights. Didn't like Batman #1 but I might give it another chance. It seems like everyone here loves Batman.

Hi! Returning to comics (and CBR) after more than a year-long hiatus from reading comic books. Really excited to plow through the New 52! :-)

My brother use to collect back in the 90's, I remember reading the Death of Superman, Batman Knightfall and some X-Men books. I recently(back in March) decided to get back into comics. After 4 months, I'm hooked. I spend most of my free time checking out comic sites and roaming eBay for books that I want, haha. Here are the DC books I'm collecting right now:

    Batman
    Batman Inc.
Batman: Dark Knight (starting with Issue 10)
    Detective Comics
    Action Comics
    Justice League
    Earth 2
    Dial H
    Before Watchmen
    National Comics

I'm interested in getting caught up with Teen Titans, Superman, Blue Beetle and Green Lantern. I just need to save up the money to get a 1-11 lot on eBay for one of them, haha
