Howdy, new around here and figured I might as well chime in. My comic background is limited to reading non-superhero graphic novels for the past few years. Most of the "classics," i.e., Watchmen, Sandman, Sin City, etc., as well as newer stuff (Y the Last Man, Fables, Preacher, etc.). Have been wanting to get into superhero books for a while now, but frankly was overwhelmed by the size and complexity of both the DC & Marvel universes. Then the New 52 cam along, and it seemed like a perfect opportunity for a reader like me to jump in and discover some new stories.

So far I've been enjoying them. Am currently reading Batwoman, WW, Birds of Prey, and Batgirl. May add some more once the trades start coming out....

As a kid I was raised on marvel but as of recently I have been following DC, for me the characters and the plots are just a tad bit better, Marvel will never be able to touch Grant Morrison's run on Animal Man nor Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run (Watchmen, V for Vendetta as well).

I've been reading comics for around 18 years and would definitely consider myself a Marvel zombie. However over the last 5 or so years I've heard so many good things about Geoff Johns GL run and Grant Morrison's Batman run I decided to go and order the first lots of trades. Grabbed a few new 52 hardcovers & All Star Superman while I was at it. So far I've read all the GL & GLC tpbs up Sinestro Corps War and I'm eagerly awaiting it's arrival in the mail!

I fell out of the comics around 2000, approximately. Initially I was never into much DC stuff, but I'm really digging this New 52 thing. I've picked up a handful of series, and am trying to catch up and find what I like, and have plenty of issues to collect monthly.

I started reading new comics on a monthly basis back around 2006 when "Infinite Crisis" and "House of M" caught my eye. I used to buy a fair amount from both Marvel and DC, but slowly over time, I gravitated more and more towards DC. When the New 52 hit, there were so many new books I wanted to get that I gave up the few Marvel titles I had left. I love DC and the way they actually try and make the most of all the characters from their library including more obscure ones. I particularly got excited for their attempts to do more horror themed books and I get almost all of those. I'm new to the CBR forums although I've been visiting the site for a couple of years.

My favorite titles currently are: Aquaman, Detective Comics, Green Lantern, Legion of Super-Heroes, Animal Man, and Swamp Thing (although I get a lot more than those).

I have only read a few comics during my life. For the most part I am completely new to the medium. DC's New 52 has me very intrigued, and if the books are as good as everyone is saying, then I'm sure I'll be hooked in no time!

I started reading and was big into DC and Marvel comics during the 1990's/early 2000's until the 2 local comic book stores closed and other hobbies appeared, let alone lack of funds. Since then I occasionally checked out the scene but nothing really materialized. It wasn't until watching the Avengers movie recently and the excitement I had towards the new Dark Knight movie that I realized what I was missing out on all these years. The new 52 defiantly helps too as it's sort of like a "new beginning" and something to look forward to again.

I am new to comics sort of, I have became a huge Green Lantern fan, and I started to collect the individual issues ranging from silver age to now! I am really loving the old, but the new direction that DC is taking is a little upsetting. The New 52 has been fantastic to GL but I really hope they dont screw around with him.

I was started on DC back with Superman The Animated Series. When Smallville started I watched just because of the relation to what I knew as a kid. When Smallville started covering stories that I knew were part of the comic mythos I started picking up the TPBs like Death of Superman, which led to collecting the "Funeral for a Friend" and "Reign of the Supermen" monthlies(I didn't know they had TPBs when I started[It took 3-4 years to collect them all]). From there I started reading DC novels, and ultimately the novelizations of Final Crisis and Infinite Crisis which hooked me on the continuity of the DCU.

Once I started buying TPBs strictly to understand the DCU continuity as a whole I built up a long list of books to buy. This was when DC announced Flashpoint. I was only buying the TPBs for the purpose of understanding the DCU continuity as a whole, so I reboot would kill everything I'd done so far. With this I halted all TPB buying and waited for Flashpoint.

I found a new comic shop near my house and picked up Flashpoint the first day every day. At first I hated the individual issues because I read for the story, not the pictures, so it was just a bunch of hurry up and wait. By the end of Flashpoint the individual issues became a drug and since they were starting at #1 I had a whole new universe of continuity to follow from square one. I ended up really liking the shop I found and they gave discount for 10 or more pull list titles, so how could I not buy 15 titles a month?

I have yet to buy books like "The Return of Bruce Wayne" or "Brightest Day" that I put off due to Flashpoint, so DC lost money there, but I've obviously spent more on monthlies than I would have on TPBs.

I have always been a Superman fan but would never really read the comics only watch STAS and JL plus Smallville from beginning to end. One night I was researching some Superman titles when I ran across an Elseworld title; Superman: Speeding Bullets. It caught my eye and I was able to find buy a copy from e-bay. The concept of Elseworld stories intrigued me so I started to collect more including Superman Red Son, The Superman Monster, Superman: Kal and others. After this my interest started to grow beyond Superman after which I took an interest in Green Lantern. I was so unfamiliar with GL's origins and confused by all of the members so I started reading the arc by Geoff Johns which of course led into Blackest Night and so many other characters that it sort of branched off from there.

That year I read caught up Superman/Batman, Supergirl, GL Corps, Brian Miller's Batgirl, Justice League, Teen Titans, Zatanna and so many other titles including Booster Gold which became one of my favorite books!

I had to read a lot of these titles through handy me downs or search for them on ebay/amazon so when i found out about The New 52 I made a trip to my comic book store to start a pull list.

I love the knowledge I created by reading books from the Pre 52 age because I like to compare characters from then and now. I know some people were really attached to their previous favorite characters and may not give the new 52 a chance because their afraid of how their favorite characters might have changed but I always look forward to seeing what's in store. Especially with Batgirl. Even though I love her character I never really have read a lot of titles with Barbara Gordon so the reboot gives me a chance to start all over with her which is great.

The first comic i ever bought was Green Lantern 61, when Kyle Rayner was attacked by Kalibak. I stopped then for a while, and started back up when Johns started Green Lantern Rebirth. I was following a few titles then though, mostly the GL titles. Then I stopped yet again due to work and personal problems. Then DC started the whole New 52 thing, and i have started once again with following titles. Hopefully I can keep it going for the long run :)

When I was a little kid my library had hardback volumes of the Stan Lee/Steve Didko stuff from the 1960's, and I probably read every one of them. In junior high and high school I would read the occasional x-book, and in my 20's I read the occasional non traditional super hero graphic novel. I had always stayed away from being a monthly reader because of the complicated, even convoluted continuity. When I heard about the new 52 I, apparently like most of the people on here, knew it would be a chance to jump in. I didn't do this right away, actually I kinda wanted to but didn't get around to it until about 6 months in. Then I went to a piracy site and found a file with the first 5 of every comic from the new 52. I downloaded every thing that sounded even remotely interesting. I red them all, then went to my local comic book store like the next day and started buying the titles I had liked. I even tried checking out some marvel titles but I didn't enjoy them at all.
I buy: action comics, animal man, batgirl, catwoman, detective comics, and earth two. I love batgirl, that's favorite book book.
The only one I've dropped is Batwoman. They changed the artist and the tone of the book, but they're going back to the original guy shortly, so I may add it again.

New to the board. I started reading comics back when Grant Morrison started his run on New X-Men, and that was the only comic I read for awhile before daring to delve into other comics. I was almost exclusively a Marvel reader, only having experimented with Geoff Johns' JSA run around 08 before getting out of comics altogether in 09.

I got back into comics last August, and that's when I learned about the New 52. Since I hadn't really jumped back in the pool yet (I had picked up Liss' Black Panther and Ellis' Secret Avengers simply because of the characters involved) I decided to do some research.

    I initially picked up:
    Action Comics
    Aquaman
    Batman
    Batwing
    Batwoman
    Blue Beetle
    Demon Knights
    Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
    Green Lantern
    Green Lantern Corps
    Justice League
    Mister Terrific
    Resurrection Man
    Static Shock
    Swamp Thing
    Voodoo

I dropped Mister Terrific and Blue Beetle after the first issue (the former for being poorly written, the latter for failing to capture my interest), and began reading Animal Man digitally. I dropped Justice League, Resurrection Man, Static Shock, and Voodoo after issue 6 as none of the stories interested me any more (and some were horrendously mishandled).

I tried each of the Wave 2 titles, dropping G.I. Combat and the Ravagers after the first issue, and World's Finest and Earth 2 after the second (primarily for the stories failing to capture my interest, which isn't to say that they were bad, just that they weren't for me). I've yet to pick up the second issue of Batman, Incorporated, simply because my finances require that I don't buy as many comics as I'd like.

Along those lines, I've also stopped reading Batwing and Green Lantern, and Frankenstein may find itself there if the new writer Matt Kindt(sp?) changes the feel of the series too much.

I've also read the first HC of Wonder Woman and will probably follow that series in the collected format. I also plan on doing this for Flash when that comes out in November.

So now my DC reading list looks like this:
    Action Comics
    Animal Man (Digital)
    Aquaman
    Batman
    Batwoman
    Demon Knights
    Dial H
    Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
    Green Lantern Corps
    Swamp Thing
    Wonder Woman (Hardcovers)

And I'm prospectively looking at the following:
Batman, Incorporated (either monthly or HCs/TPBs)
    The Flash (Hardcovers)
    Sword of Sorcery
    The Phantom Stranger

Hello all, new to the board here. I've been reading comics off and on since I was a kid. Didn't really get into them until I read some of Ron Marz' work. Now I've been a regular comic buyer for about a half-year. I've been mostly a Top Cow and Marvel fan until I was recommended Gail Simone's Birds of Prey, Ed Brubaker's Catwoman, and Greg Rucka's Wonder Woman. It got me hooked to DC comics since the most exposure to DC I've had in the past was the cartoons. I'm currently enjoying the new 52 and my current pull list from DC is: Batgirl, Green Lantern: New Guardians, Batwoman, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Birds of Prey.
