I used to read comics when I was younger, but even then not regularly. I had a few issues of Batman and some GI Joe comics (I remember having the one that focused on Snake Eyes storming Destro's castle that had no dialogue, that was really cool). I never really had a big interest in them, so I just stopped getting them.

I've always been interested in the characters, just not enough to invest in the books. I kept up with major events through friends, internet posts, and video games when it happened.

Anyway, I read about the DCnU and thought that it might be a good time to get on board. I saw a bunch of Marvel books going back to #1 as well. Couple that with becoming friends with a neighbor who worked in a local comic shop for 17ish years who had a HUGE collection that I can borrow from to catch up on stuff and now I'm reading books. :)

I currently have about 25 books on my pull list between Marvel and DC (and I'm trying the Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi from Dark Horse). For DC, I'm getting:
    • Justice League
    • Action
    • Detective
    • Batwoman
    • Batman
    • Batman & Robin
    • Wonder Woman
    • Flash

I wasn't going to pick up Wonder Woman, but I saw the cover for #4 and thought it was really cool, so I picked up the previous 3 and discovered it was actually an entertaining read. :D

Looking forward to hanging out here!

When I was around 10 years old I read comics mostly when I was visiting my cousins and scammed off of them, and then started getting WildC.A.T.S. when Image first started up, but fell off of comics after about a year when they changed to an artist I didn't like.

A few months before the new 52 I started getting back into comics, but was mostly just picking up back-issues of completed series instead of subscribing to ongoing comics, and the only DC title I was picking up was Power Girl. When they announced they were restarting the DC comics at #1 it got me pretty jazzed and I started getting much more into comics as a whole, including picking up a lot more DC titles once they launched.

I was never a weekly reader as a kid, most of my books were hand-me-downs from my older brother. I started getting back into comics with Invincible, Walking Dead, the Marvel Civil War...and since the DC reboot I've really been sucked into the DCU.

I'm a Marvel reader looking to get into DC. Any good runs/arcs/titles to check out? Characters aren't an issue. I'll try anything.

My name is Ryan and I'm 23 years of age and I was born in 1988.

I've always enjoyed comics but I never purchased a comic book until the launch of DC Comics New 52.

As a child my parents showed me Christopher Reeves Superman The Movie and Charles Schulz marvelous cartoon Peanuts (which I've always called Snoopy) and from then on I've always read the comic section of the news paper. Not long after that at about the age of 8 or 9 I discovered a old Star Wars comic at my aunts house on the bed head board and I was intrigued as I'd always had a fascination with space and the idea of a war among the stars after having read Revelation 12.

Around 2001 I became enthusiastic about manga and anime thanks to the Naruto/Bleach craze that swept across America. My father had already introduced me to Speed Racer and I was hungry for more manga and so as I've always been a bookworm I ate up as much manga as I could find; I mainly read Naruto and Bleach from 2001 all the until 2007. In 2008 I began watching the One Piece anime which is really great so it was only natural that in 2010 I began reading the One Piece manga. Back in 2008 I also bought the first volume of the Kingdom Hearts manga and in 2009 I bought the Kingdom Hearts II Chain of Memories manga.

Then I began reading the Labyrinth, Star Trek, StarCraft and The Dark Crystal manga in 2010 to 2011. In the days leading up to the release of J.J. Abrams Star Trek and GI Joe the movie I began reading GI Joe and Star Trek comics books which brought me back to American comic book reading again.

I've always been a Spider Man/ X-Men fan from my childhood and so I've been reading Marvel comics/manga for a long time on and off though not consistently. As the rumble of the Thor movie grew louder I began reading Marvel comics more faithfully although I bought no comics (I was saving up my money for a Wacom Bamboo Tablet).

Finally this year I purchased my Wacom Bamboo Create Tablet but a few weeks before I broke into my PS Vita savings after becoming extremely annoyed with the high price point of the PS Vita, its software and memory stick cards plus I have a Nintendo 3DS anyway and so I took the money and bought New 52 Supergirl #2 and #3.

I was so HAPPY to have at long last bought a comic book that I didn't know what to do. Plus, I love Superman. I'm a fan of Smallville, Justice League Unlimited, Adam West's Batman, Batman the Brave and the Bold and that marvelous cartoon Teen Titans. I'm also a nerd for Robin (Dick Greyson) and Raven. And I've always had a childhood crush on Wonder Woman which has lasted to this very day.

So I went back to the comic this week and picked up an plethora of New 52 Comics. I bought two Wonder Woman comics. I picked up all the available issues of Batman and Robin save for 3 and 4 which they didn't have. I bought all the available issues of The Flash (#2 and #5). I bought Action Comics #1 and a issue of Superman and the Legion of the Superheroes from 2008 I believe.

So that's my comic life story up till now! I hope I didn't bore anyone.

Never read any comics before but I'm a big gamer and in the box for Arkham City there was an ad for The New 52. The idea of 52 #1s intrigued me so I looked into it and the next thing I know I have the first two issues of every bat-comic. This was back in November.

I read reviews, previews and got the first few issues of anything that sounded cool to me. I've dropped and added a lot of things but my current and probably final pull list is:
Animal Man, Aquaman, Batman, Batman & Robin, Batwoman, Demon Knights, The Flash, Justice League, Suicide Squad, Supergirl, Swamp Thing and Wonder Woman.

Of course this had led me to buy every trade I can get my hands on, it's been amazing catching up on all the classics. I've loved everything about comics so far so I figured I should sign up for a forum!

I was really into comics when I was a kid in the 90s. But I ended up moving away from any nearby comic shops and this was about the time that the corner stores stopped carrying comics, so it became very difficult to keep reading. I lapsed for almost 10 years, started picking up trades again a few years back, and when the relaunch hit, I dove right back in. It has brought back a sense of magic and wonder for me to be reading and collecting comics again. Couldn't be happier!

    Hello all!

I grew up reading Marvel in the 80s/90s, I then switched to Image only in the 90s. In the early 2000s I went back to Marvel before I stopped collecting entirely. Thanks to the relaunch I am a DC guy now and collect over 30 titles and minis.

Image got me into comics. I saw my first copies of Spawn in high school and I was blown away by the art. Most of what I bought was Image and companies like Sirious and Verotik with a few Dark Horse titles. I skipped DC and Marvel for the most part. I got out of comics in the late 90s when my habit of the Wednesday comic book run was broken. I wasn't reading what I was buying and my commute changed making the trip a pain. I only recently picked up a couple of books for the first time. I just finished Identity Crisis and waiting for 52 Vol 1 and 2 from the library.

I miss it, but not sure how much yet. I prefer reading the physical books, but I don't want to get back into building a collection again. I found this especially to be true after I started organizing my long boxes I have left over which haven't been opened in 10+ years. At the same time digital isn't for me with the current market and model.
