I used to collect starting around 91 and stopped in 2001, was on board when i read of same day digital, although last week i discovered a CBS really close to my home and bought JL#1 as a floppy(and digital). My favorites from my collection are the Superman run from Doomsday till return of Superman, Pre Sword of Azrael Batman till the Scott Mcdaniel run, and JLA from 1 to 55. Also used to collect Valiant, Image, Marvel and Ultraverse.

Never read a comic regularly before. I read V for Vendetta after I saw the movie, and I recently read Batgirl Year One and Young Justice #3 tie in comic after I got my Comixology account. I really got interested in comic characters other then Batman and Superman the summer The Dark Knight came out which I think was 2008. I was searching online to see what early reviews had to say about the movie and I found Superherohype forum. Through that, I discovered DCAU (which lead me to Toonforum), than I watch the Burton Batman movies and Reeves Superman movies which I never saw before (I saw Batman Forever on the airplane when I come to this country). Along my discovery of DACU, I also found the X men animated shows which I loved too.

I wanted to read comics but it seemed confusing and/or uninteresting. I wanted to read about Wally West for example but in the comics there was time traveling (which I hate), and a lot of speedsters running around. It was confusing and not as simple as the Justice League show. I wanted to read about Barbara Gordon Batgirl but I find in the comics that she is paralyzed and is called Oracle. So I didn’t. DC relaunch/reboot seems good time to try out and see how it goes.

Although I still don’t get to read about Wally West.

I mostly read Vertigo, though I read DC proper and Marvel when I was younger (I'm currently in my 20s). I'm getting back into the DCU mostly thanks to same-day-as-print digital comics, but I also think it's cool to witness the beginning of a new era first hand.

Oh, and I'll be buying the first arc of all 52, then dropping the comics that don't interest me.

I've been a Marvel fan for a couple of years now. I see the relaunch as an opportunity to experience how the other half lives.

I'm not completely new to DC, as I have been reading Batman and Robin and Batman Incorporated. However, I've never been able to "get into" anything DC outside of Batman, largely due to the heaviness of the DCU continuity and the way its writers prefer to cater to the established fanbase.

Starting this month, I'll be pulling the following DC titles (and possibly more in the future):

    - Action Comics
    - Batman
    - Batman and Robin
    - Batman Incorporated (on hiatus)
    - Stormwatch
    - Justice League
    - Swamp Thing
    - Teen Titans
    - Static Shock

I agree with the first, and hope to do the latter, even if I can't afford them day one.

    My name is Tom.
I've been reading comics for the past 20 to 25 years.
I started getting the JLA when Giffen & DeMatteis were on it.
I loved that title and JL Europe.
I have always been a Guy Gardner fan.
I started on the Falsh when William Messner Loebs was on there and he made me enjoy Wally West.
M.D Bright was doing the art Green Lantern and Norm Breyfogle was drawing Batman.....I miss the art of those guys.
That's the DC Universe I enjoy....I liked Martian Manhunter having a personality, I enjoyed the early issues of Impulse, I enjoyed Starman when Robinson was writing it.
There's been a lot of DC Titles I have enjoyed over the years and there have been some that were confusing, they seemed to have been cluttered down because of the timeline.
So....I am interested in getting the new DCU Titles and see what's changed and what's staying the same.
Wondering where some of my favorite characters are or if they will be around.
It will be fun and interesting.
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Default DC no more!

Well I've been collecting for over 33 years... The first comic I read was the old 50's EC comics my grandmother gave me...but I got hooked when I bought and read Giant Sized X-men # 1...Wolverine seemed at that time to be so far ahead of what heroes should be.. I'll admit I've mostly collected Marvel... My favorite DC character is Green Lantern so I'm one of the few relived by the fact he didn't really get rebooted during this latest DC Reboot.. But over the past 10 years have expanded my DC selections when they started to reintergrate all there history back.. This really got me excited about the present DCu as well as the past because it finally made it feel like DC was making a concerted effort to create a real mythology to the shared universe...Which is what marvel has done for most of there history...This mythology made DC feel epic not unaccessible.... By jettisoning that epic mythology DC is simply telling older readers there investment into there shared universe means nothing cause those characters no longer exist...But try these new ones...until we need some more money and start them over again!!...LOL...Oh DC do you think comic fans are that stupid!!

I've been reading comic books for roughly 8 years but it's been almost exclusively TPB, mainly from Vertigo with only some Superhero stuff thrown in.

This is my first time stepping into monthly comics and the first time in a year that I'll be collecting comics regularly. So I'm sort of new-ish-y.

I collected comics for a few years during the early 90s. That consisted of the various Marvel X-Books and Image comics. I went off to college in '94 and my comic days came to an end.

I heard about the DCnU a few months ago and decided to check it out. Saw it as a perfect opportunity to get back into the game at the beginning. I compare it to playing a MMORPG. It's a lot easier to start fresh with everyone, vs. coming into the game much later and then having to play catch up.

That being said, I have ordered all 52 #1s so I can check them all out. From there I will continue to get the ones I enjoy. I'm figuring anywhere between 10-15 max titles, otherwise the wife might kill me

The only unfortunate thing for me, I don't have a LCS in my area. So I have to rely on an online store, but I'm interested enough in the DCnU to continue with it, as long as the stories are good.

Do you have a Hastings nearby?

Also, have you thought about going digital? I love it.

    Hi Dustin.
    I'm from Oklahoma.
I shop at the Hastings here in town.
I think they got around 10 copies of the Justice League and there is about 5 or 6 left now.
I mostly order my stuff online from a place in Tulsa called Impulse Creations.
They are a pretty good service and they give good discounts. :)

Having to order online was once what kept me from continuing.

For you guys without local shoPs who aren't interested in digital check out discount comicbook services online. They're pretty awesome for mail subs. DC is also offering a nice subscription discount and reserving first issues until the middle of this month...
Did Wonder Woman and Superman just catch an aircraft carrier?

I'm going to assume "Hastings" is a bookstore of some type. I do have a bookstore in the area, but their comic selection is very small.

I'm sure the future we be in digital, but there's something said for holding a book in my hands and actually flipping the pages I will see how the online ordering goes, especially the cost of shipping, but for now I'll give it a shot.
