They look nice enough, but was anyone really clamoring for yet another retelling of the origins/early days of the X-Men, Daredevil or FF? This is beyond well-trod territory; this ground been walked over so much there's a 6 foot trench there.

You are right. First the Ultimate Universe as a new Origin for the heroes, then we had multiple First Class things, Avengers Origins...

And the badest thing about this is, that it always leads to the same thing... the team we know, the same characters. They can wrap it up every time in new clothes, it still is the same at the end.

Yeah, I don't want to sound like a 'hater' or anything... but I agree. I don't really see much point in these. I guess it's an attempt to get the ever elusive new reader interested... but I don't think rehashing characters origins is what is needed to gain new readers... new, current stories would work better... get the potential readers interested in the characters as they currently are.

    I forgot:

@ Alonso: Why does Marvel want the X-Men so hard to be connected with the rest of the MU?
First: The X-Men are already in the MU
Second: Don't they have enough problems on their own? It worked in the 80's, the 90's, the 00's with just some minor interactions with other heroes.

I love the FF and I love Roberto Aguirre-Sacassa but I'm just 'meh' about this. Like others have said this well-trod territory.

I'm kinda meh on retelling some of these origins but the preview pages for some of them are actually pretty damn awesome. The X-Men one in particular.

Oh Kelly Sue, please let it be a good take on Ms Marvel. Not that hated the last pass by Reed but it was so waylayed by crossovers it never got a chance to establish itself. Plus I don't think reed completely captured Carol's "voice'.

trying to decide if this is one for the swipe file or not: I'm leaning towards "not" but man, the PP cover jumped into my mind as soon as i saw it:

That X-Men Season 1 issue just looks like a shoddy attempt to connect with the First Class movie.

Yep. Better to just reboot the MU and start fresh.

Don't know whether it's a swipe, but it does seem odd that DD'd choose to throw himself head-first through a skylight that he's already standing right next to. What, did he climb over the the next rooftop to get a running start? It actually looks like he fell through the skylight and is throwing his grapple line in a desperate attempt to stop himself.

Isn't this just a way to update the sliding time scale? These are origins set in the recent past, not the long ago past, right?

No. That would be a big mistake. DC readers have been conditioned to accept reboots ever since Crisis on Infinite Earths, almost 30 years ago now... I don't think Marvel readers would take it so easily... and I think Marvel would suffer for it.
