Very interested by the story, but choosing Chang as the artist isn't thrilling me a lot. Editors should stay true with what made the character special to his audience, and stick with that. Deadman used to be draw by Neal Adams, why not choosing an artist with a similar strong identity ?

does anyone know who's next after deadman in the series?
My biggest fear based on this interview is that this series isn't taking into account the events of Brightest Day. The whole "I have to make up for my sins" angle is such old news. Come on, he spent the last year facing some of his own selfishness and made the ultimate sacrifice to save Dove. What more do you want?
I really like what Johns and Tomasi did with this character, and prior to their run I found him basically a ridiculous plot device/deus ex machina. I'm going to pick up the first issue or two of this, but IMHO what is needed is not another new "take" but the evolution of what's just been done.
Love the character, but don't enjoy the writer's stuff. I'll pass and get my Deadman fix in Justice League Dark.

Me? I want Brightest Day/Blackest Night to go away.My biggest fear based on this interview is that this series isn't taking into account the events of Brightest Day. This sounds pretty cool, might check it out. I love the art.
I'll check this out as I love the character of Deadman, but Jenkins created The Sentry, so he has a lot to make up for!![]()
I disagree with this sentiment very strongly. If editors followed your way of thinking, all of the Superman comics would still look like Curt Swan.
Of course Neal Adams did a fantastic job on Deadman. But individual artists should be able to bring their individual styles to bear on a character. Just because something was good one way doesn't mean it can't be good another way.
Bernard Chang is an artist whose work I very much enjoy and I think he has the right style for depicting the unearthly, surreal reality of Deadman.

after dreadman.. there will be nothin left in the series
my mistake, maybe I didn't made myself clear enough, as I'm a fan of Kelley Jones and Teddy Kristiansen' take on of the character, and a fan of unpredictable revamps of all kind.
But, for a lack of better, I think going back to the roots of a character isn't a bad thing neither, that's why I quoted Neal Adams because I'd love to see the same tone of expressionnistic realism onto Deadman' stories. It could have been John Paul Leon, Bill Sienkiewicz, Michael Lark or Sam Kieth, dunno..BUT NO we're ending up with Bernard Chang, and for me that sucks. His stylization reminds me too much of something that made me ran away from European comics a long, long time ago.

Yes, Jones did a mini in the 90s. Can't remember the name of it, though.
Two, actually. The previously mentioned "Love After Death" and the follow up, "Exorcism". Both were written by Mike Baron and both are great reads.
And while I'll still be giving this book a shot, I'm not quite sold on Chang as an artist. I'm really only familiar with his Wonder Woman fill ins, which for me were the low points of Simone's run.
