    Thank you Bill Mantlo.
For Rocket Raccoon, Jack of Hearts, and many more.
Hopefully one day more will be done to help your condition.

Those are the issues where he regained his intelligence, wasn't it? God, Mantlo's Hulk was so damn good.

I wonder...was Geoff Johns and Bendis anti-Mantlo fans? Is that why they went to such great lengths to trash Jack of Hearts?

I think Johns would be the bigger offender, what with his craptacular Savage She-Hulk battle...

Yup. And in August, the second half of this arc will see a TPB as well, which will include IH #286-295, 297-300.
Unfortunately, issue #296 isn't included because of the appearance of Rom and the whole rights thing...

I just hope sales are good and Mantlo gets some money from the reprint sales.

I sure do hope so. His run on the Hulk is by far my favorite run of all time. Hell, he created some of my favorite characters (I'm wearing one for my avatar right now lol)

Mantlo is the writer that was in skates or a bike or something and was hit by an auto in the '80s and is currently disabled right? Sad story.

Glad to see that Spectular Spider-Man is loved. I've been buying all pre OMD Spidey issues and just recently completed the entire Spectular Spider-Man run. Can't wait to delve into it.

I greatly recommend his Hulk run, as well as his run on ROM and Micronauts as well.

The man was one of the most prolific writers of his time. He wrote almost 500 comics during his tenure at Marvel.

I liked all of his work that I read, but enjoyed his run on Iron Man the most. Also, I really liked Jack of Hearts.

Great thread...love Bill, I love his Vision and Scarlet mini series with Rick Leonardi on art. The 2nd issue with Wonder Man and Vision battling Ultron in Visions dream is an all time classic...love it!

The Ock/Owl Gang War and the subsequent follow-up was sheer excellence. Mantlo had the fortune/misfortune to be putting out his best work on PPTSM at the same time that Roger Stern was writing what many consider the finest ASM run ever. I don't know whether the kind of attention ASM was getting enriched or undermined his PPTSM work, but it was a great time to be a Spidey fan.
