Maybe this means better movie posters now (I'm looking at you, THOR). But it's interesting that the article brings up the possibility of simple work production being a cause, aside/along with redundancy. A project like the Avengers would generate enough hype on its own thanks to its very premise and media outlets like Entertainment Weekly and MTV, but if Disney wants a more controlled marketing campaign, there hasn't been much evidence of that in what we've seen thus far, aside from comic con appearances and that giant connecting-poster.

Isn't Marvel Studio's film's making money? So I dont see the reason behind this kind of shake up

I don't understand why these people lost their jobs. Marvel movies are well marketed and make tons of money. Would it not have been fine to just absorb that department into the larger Disney family and pick up some tips from these guys or something. I don't know.

It's business.
With Captain America being the last Marvel/Paramount venture, it's only natural that Disney will take the helm and market the rest of the Marvel movies themselves.
There's a reason why The Walt Disney Co. is the #1 largest media conglomerate in the world. Behold the power of Mickey.
Imagined if they had marketed a well known classic comic book hero Captain America like they did The Incredibles...
Captain America = $65.1M
The Incredibles = $70.5M (after inflation is actually $80.6M)

This seems unnecessary given the level of success that Marvel films have always had but I guess it makes sense to have Disney, the biggest media company in the world, market for the Avengers next summer. Its going up against some stiff competition considering the third film in Nolan's Batman saga.
I dont understand why they couldnt have just put the people who were in charge of Marvel's marketing in with the Disney marketers...

Getting rid of redundancies seems pretty self explanatory, I mean do the various other studious Disney owns have their own marketing departments?
This kind of thing is pretty much SOP when a company gets bought out.
