This weekend, I watched the end of a heated feud in the Japanese promotion, SMASH.
The feud was between Joshi "outcast" Kana and the original SMASH Joshi, Syuri. The match wasn't perfect: the animosity that Syuri had been building up due to Kana's constant insults and bullying showed up too late in the match (I thought the opening part of the match was too calm), but it was a good bout. Better than the other Joshi bout, which was between new SMASH star Makoto and former Diva Serena.
In contrast, watching the recent Eve vs Bella match just further exploited the disparities between women's wrestling in Japan and in the US. It's really disappointing watching even talent women like Beth Phoenix, Natalya, AJ Lee, and more, put on matches that just aren't exciting.

Ive been thinking about this today.
If WWE wanted divas to be taken seriously, then one way to do it might be by letting people like Eve show off real training and talent. Eve has MMA training and has trianed in dojos for a long time, and if built properly could be a legitimate womens wrestler by incorporating MMA and making her seem more dangerious instead of just beign a pretty face. Just a thought.
