Sean McCaffrey's interview is pretty much the first part.
I didn't know that Declaration of Independents was his site, and that it was pretty much wrestling's TMZ for a time. Wow.

Jim Cornette Is Pissed at the DOI, Makes Threats, Gay Bashing & More
"You're damn right I work for free. I fucking care about the business. I fucking care about Ring of Honor. I don't need a job, I got money saved to last. So fuck that Rob Feinstein who fucks goats, whatever that faggot does, fuck him!!!" -
Jim Cornette in a phone call to the DOI this past Friday afternoon.
They always say there's nothing that hits harder than the truth, and wow, did I experience that first hand this past Friday night. I originally was going to put up a column on Friday, but I figured I'd take a day or two and think about how I wanted to word everything, and of course, give you something entertaining to read on a Monday morning while you're sitting bored out of your mind at work. As always, the DOI has always been a nice little escape from the real world, so I hope you enjoy the latest shenanigans going on here.
Now, I hope this doesn't come off as "Oh wow Jim Cornette called me", because I can care less about that. I mean if Vince Russo or Ian Rotten called me, that would be different, but I mean this is only Jim Cornette. The DOI has always been about entertaining stories, and I think people will like to read this and find this humorous. I'm sure Cornette will find out about all the craziness here on the DOI through Kevin Kelly anyway. This blog/column/whatever will show you the paranoia and how neurotic the people in ROH have become, but I guess desperate times call for desperate measures. As far as having a poker face or "keeping your friends close, your enemies closer", Cornette came off sloppy and threw all his cards on the table, in quite the hilarious fashion. I mean away from wrestling, Cornette is nearly 50 years old acting like a roided up macho 20 year old.
This past Wednesday, we had a story about Jim Cornette working for free for Ring of Honor. I didn't think the story came off negative, as it showed Cornette's passion and energy for wrestling. While we didn't get this story from Cornette himself, Cornette, intentionally or not, confirmed he was to me over the phone.
This was not a story other sites didn't know about. The difference here is that ROH does not advertise on DOI and we are not scared to put up a story, in fear of losing ROH advertising money. Another northeast reporter, formerly of 1wrestling.com, was even laughing about this story to Rob Feinstein this past Saturday. Unlike other sites, I am not scared or worried what "big name" people think. If they like it, they like it, if they don't, they don't. Just because you're famous in a world of spandex, doesn't make me cower or make me think a person is bigger than Jesus.
For those who missed the original story, here's the abridged article that was posted on the DOI:
" Conman Syd Eick: Telling The Truth Or Talking Shit?
ROH Vice-president and the used cars salesman of wrestling, Syd Eick, told several DOI sources at the ROH show this past Saturday in Charlotte that Jim Cornette is working for free. When I say that Syd "told", I mean "boasted" and "bragged."
While Syd is known to spit fiction from time-to-time, especially when he has to explain why tickets are double-sold at ROH shows, this one may have weight.
While Syd is a known liar, Cornette working for free makes sense on several different levels. For one, this gets Cornette right into the door and makes it look that he cares about ROH. While I'm sure Cornette does care about ROH, by working for free now, it opens up Cornette for a huge score later on.
According to Syd, Cornette is only working in exchange for a gimmick table at every event. Eventually all the fans that want to meet and buy Jim's stuff will have done it when ROH starts visiting the same towns over and over. It is only a matter of time before Jim is going to need to make some sort of money back on these shows.
Cornette has buried WWE & TNA so many times that he can't get a job in either company right now. Plus if Cornette was to go to any of these companies, under the current regimes, he would look like a hypocrite, although it wouldn't be the first time, as Cornette bit his lip during his whole entire tenure in TNA under Russo.
Cornette probably could get a paying gig for a wrestling website somewhere or take $1500 paydays from money mark promoters, but obviously to stay in the limelight, ROH is the best situation for him right now. No one is denying Cornette's genius in the wrestling business as he is a great teacher, has a good grasp on things and is passionate about helping others, but at the same time, if he doesn't go to ROH, where does Cornette go at this point in his career?
Cornette is getting his hooks into ROH, as he is getting more involved in the company with every passing day. It is only a matter of time before Cary realizes he has too many chiefs, as Cornette, Lagana & Pearce all have influence over the booking/direction of the company. If you had a wrestling company, would you rather pay one salary or three salaries? Now think, would you rather pay one salary or three salaries when your company is losing money?
One source in the ROH locker room said that Pearce should be on his toes, as Cornette is gaining more power. Of course Cary Silken is a huge fan of Cornette, because he's working for free and also because Silken is a mark for big names, just like how Flair got him for $50k and Cary didn't think it was that bad.
Cornette is currently calling the wrestlers, writing TV, working the main event programs, etc, all stuff that should Pearce should be doing. Pearce could be getting strong armed out, and it should be interesting to see where Pearce is, job-wise, a few months from now when Cornette should be fully entrenched in the company.
Syd was also telling people that he was relieved that the Charlotte show bombed, because if Cornette was able to put on a financial success this past Saturday with Gary Juster, it would've increased Cornette's power even more. The mexican experiment failed and Charlotte came off as just another town, and not something enormous. ROH lost money at the door, but you would have to think they'll make money once the show is on DVD and from the internet PPV sales."
I guess before continuing on, I should preface this a bit, by saying I do respect Jim Cornette's contributions to the wrestling business. I do respect his style of booking. I think he can be an a major help to any wrestling company. I have nothing negative to say about his work, mind or style. In fact, I will go further and say that I agree with many of Cornette's public opinions. I agree with him that TNA is god awful and Russo should be fired. I agree that more wrestling and less sports entertaining is needed. Shit, just like Jim, I am an atheist too. And maybe like Jim, I have no interest in taking stupid phone calls either. But yes, I do respect and understand everything Jim has done. I do however, think he's become a walking parody of himself, similar to the Iron Sheik. It is funny to talk about "humbling" Hulk Hogan & butt fucking B. Brian Blair a few times, but after the 1000th time you've heard it, it gets tiring. I think that's what Cornette has some what turned into, a big red-faced windbag, screaming the same stuff over and over. I mean he hates Vince Russo. We get it. But you didn't say a word about him publicly until YOU got FIRED. You didn't quit out of principle. Three years you had to work under him and you stayed quiet. Now, Russo still has a job (and I don't know why either), while the second you got fired you decided to lash out. Where were your principles and great love of the game passion before all this? It is no secret Cornette can't stand Russo, which led to his firing, but why wait three years to slam him all over again?
And before Cornette tries to do the whole big league thing, where "mother fucker you're talking about me, I'm not talking about you" thing, Cornette is a public figure who puts himself out there. I have no problem with anyone trashing this site or this site's decisions, so Cornette should have no problem with the opinions of wrestling fans or any one in the biz at all, about him.
In our short 8 year history here at the DOI, we have tried to bring you entertaining stories with the news. We get stories nobody else gets and stories everybody else is scared to print. There have been countless threats and phone calls over the years, and in all my experience and time doing this site, the people who are the maddest & most pissed off are the people who read truths about themselves. Especially someone in Jim Cornette's position.
Look at it this way- if there is something made up about someone online that is just ridiculous, two things happen. One the fans/readers know it's retarded and roll their eyes. Number two, the person in the story just shrugs it off and says how ridiculous it is. When you're a name like Jim Cornette and not regular indy Joe Schmo, you don't "sell" for these little stories because it just makes you sink to that level and makes it look like you care about falsehoods.

Where has Jim Cornette come to? A legendary manager now forced to sell bootleg VHS tapes at a gimmick table. Do you think a site like the DOI would've raised Cornette's ire and fire years ago? Sure Jim will say "motherfucker, fucking sites like this shouldnt fucking exist this isnt fucking old school fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck I can only get over with smart marks today by fucking cursing every fucking 30 fucking seconds", but if it wasn't true, you wouldn't have got all riled up. Plus, Cornette's friends, including reporter Mike Aldren confirmed Cornette is working for free as well.
And I ask again - what is the big deal? I respect that Cornette has made so much money he can work for free. But there's more to this picture.
However, when you see the truth about yourself online, you tend to get a bit mad. "How the fuck did they find out?" "Who's leaking this information?" and of course "How can I stop this from spreading?" are the first questions that come to a person's mind. Those three questions bombarded Cornette's head last week when we put up the story about him working for free.
After talking to Cornette, in a mostly one-sided conversation, as he came off like a raving lunatic with no self control and perhaps in need of anger management, I realized he wasn't as mad about the working for free part as he was about the pushing other people out part. That made me wonder, did the truth hurt that much that Cornette is now worried about what his fellow employees... (er.. Employees would mean a paycheck) um, let's say volunteers, are thinking?
Wrestling is not a clean cut business. It is a dog eat dog world, and while Jim Cornette expressed very strongly how it must've been Rob Feinstein leaking everything, perhaps Cornette should check the leaks at the bottom of his own boat. Everyone knows this is how the wrestling "journalism" works, all the way up from the respected and esteemed Dave Meltzer to a random blog on Myspace- when people are disgruntled in a company, they leak out information for their own personal gain. This is not rocket science. Jim also wondered if I thought I was getting a Pulitzer for my work here at DOI, and while I don't see that happening, Jim if you can pull some strings in that department, that would be great.
Furthermore, perhaps Cornette should stop worrying about Rob Feinstein and took a hard look around...
It is funny in wrestling how the business perceives and receives homosexuals. While I think the Orlando Jordan thing in TNA will freak anyone out, if you're gay, who cares? In my personal opinion, the only homosexuality I hate is the same hetrosexuality I hate - when people fuck to get ahead. There are many gay relationships in wrestling where one guy is banging another to get a better spot on a card, more money, etc. This goes on with heterosexual relationships too, just ask Triple H.
I think at one point or in another, we've all heard stories about being disappointed in your heroes when you finally meet them. From Johnny Dakota in "Saved By The Bell" to Terrell Owens, it is always heart-crushing when you meet your hero in real life and they are not the person you expected them to be. While Jim Cornette was never a hero of mine, it was depressing to hear his dated views on homosexuality, as he did a 2 minute rant using gay slurs and the corniest gay jokes in the world to discuss Rob Feinstein. I know he comes from an era and region where racism & sexism were once accepted, but you'd think now, in the year 2010, he could be a little more mature and above slurs.
I don't know if you ever saw that South Park episode where they talk about the word "faggot" and how faggot is more of an insult more than a shot at one's sexuality, but if you haven't seen it, check it out. Just like the South Park episode, I feel the same way about the word "faggot", where the word in today's world, is more like calling someone a pussy, rather than talking about someone's sexuality.
But this wasn't like calling someone a faggot. It was just non-stop homoexuality slurs. It made me stop and think. Does Jim know who the fuck he is working for? Until it was exposed on the DOI message boad, Cary had pictures with his boyfriends (and they look mighty young too Jimmy, go check up on that) on his facebook page. Cary has been linked to many wrestlers in homosexual relationships. Like I said before, I don't care what you fuck, but I have no respect for people who fuck to get ahead. That is why I'm impressed and respect Kenny Omega when he turned down Cary Silken's homosexual advances and even turned down Cary when Cary offered him a home and a new car to move in with him. Other blonde haired boys in Ring of Honor can't say the same. After all, we all read what Larry Sweeney had to say about his relationship with Cary. Cary fits the classic profile of an elderly gentleman who uses power and influence over weak -minded younger males. Maybe Cornette should check the cracks in his own glass house before he starts throwing slur stones at others.
And I don't want this column turning into a Feinsteingate issue, but real quick - Feinstein was never charged with anything, but is still being punished and tormented by his enemies to this day. I do respect Cornette for never working with Feinstein again, because Cornette had his principles and stuck with what he believed. But don't go burying one guys sexuality when your boss is of the same sexuality. How do you think Feinstein & Cary met anyway? At the disco?
The reason Cornette felt the need to gay-bash Rob Feinstein is because he thinks Rob Feinstein was the only source to that story, which I'll say on record is not true. Sure Feinstein is a friend to the DOI, but he was not a original source in any of the stories about Cornette last week. I found it puerile and sophomoric of Cornette, that he had to gay-bash Feinstein to make his points. I wonder how Cornette feels about his life and about himself as a person that he needed to put down homosexuals. Was this deflecting and neglecting attention from himself? Was this a way of pushing out repressed and depressed feelings about himself? Only Jimmy knows the answer to that one.
Cornette also went on to physically threaten me, as I guess I am supposed to be intimidated of an overweight, blinding, balding 50 year-old. I know that stuff works on Feinstein and wrestlers who won't fight back in fear of being blackballed (Doesn't take much balls to slap Santino, when an impressionable and defenseless Santino is looking for a full-time job), but I mean really, what are you going to do, blow up after you throw around a cheap tennis racket?
Cornette has threatened to "go off" on Feinstein the next time he sees him too. Now that should be entertaining when the cameras in this Youtube/camera phone generation are rolling. Can you imagine a red-faced Cornette screaming out gay slurs at Feinstein at a random convention or show? It will be entertaining. Cornette will come off looking like a homeless drunk ranting about Charlie in Vietnam. Like I said, as time goes on, Cornette becomes more of a parody of himself, just like The Iron Sheik. At least he'll be a YouTube sensation and if he's lucky, maybe Eric Simms will be his agent. Oh- and Sheik knows that he's working everyone with his act and making money, is Cornette making any money on his crazy rants?

Cornette, who used the "fuck" word about 100 times in this short phone call, went on to say "you better watch out what's on your computer." That would be perfect advice for Cary Silken. There are no dead skeletons in my closet. Perhaps Cornette should pry into the closets of the people he's working with and not some internet site that Jim said he doesn't care about. If Cornette wants to play games, I have a nice game for him. I will give the police my computer tomorrow, if Cary will do the same. Let's see who has more dirt on their computers! I am not accusing Cary of anything here, I am just saying here that if Cornette is worried about computers and everything, I think a good little game would be having the police check the contents of my computer vs the contents of his boss's computer and let's see what comes up. I have nothing to hide. Well except the midget porno, but I think that is legal in NY!
I know to Jim Cornette, I am a nobody. Cornette can't control himself and he gave away is whole entire hand to me already. He buries his enemies all the time, because he doesn't have the class or skills to know how to out-trick someone. There is a purpose to this article, and I know Jim will react the way I want him to like a puppet. While he is off blaming Rob for everything, he should be looking directly at Syd. Just think Jim, do you think ROH or its fans really need Syd there? They can use you though.
I am not here to gloat about a DOI story getting under someone's skin. I just thought someone with the experience and someone who has been around the block, like a James E. Cornette, would have played this better. You just exposed to me and all your enemies how you sell for internet stories. You just gave away how this story drove you nuts. You just gave away how you have to second guess everyone who you shake hands with in the ROH locker room for being a potential leak. You can blame Rob Feinstein all you want, but Rob has been gone from that company for 6 years now. Then again, the people in ROH aren't the smartest around, I mean how are tickets still being double sold at this stage of the game? I guess since none of the gate money goes in Jim's pockets, there is no reason for him to question Syd on that one.
And when I read the original story back, I don't even know why Cornette is mad. So what if he's working for free? That means he has money where he can afford to work for free. It shows he has a true passion for wrestling. Again, I think it is all about the lid being blown open that Cornette is trying to have all the power in ROH. I mean why else would he over react?
Cornette definitely needs ROH. Where else can he go on the American scene today? WWE doesn't want him. TNA doesn't want him. Shit, Cornette couldn't even work for Ian Rotten's IWA-Mid South Wrestling if he begged. There's been so many bridges burnt, just like how I'm sure this column is burning any bridges with Cornette loyalists. But unlike Jim, I can end grudges and move on in life. I do not let silly wrestling burdens determine and dictate my life. I do not need to be hypocrite and take a paycheck from TNA, only to bury everyone in the company the second I get my pink slip for not playing nice with others. However Mr. Cornette, I do think we think the same about a one Mr. Vince Russo, the only difference is I never had to fake a smile around him and he never made me look like an idiot in a public forum.
We all know where this blog/column is going. Cornette showed to me that he has lost a bit of his wits. I expect Jim to come out and bury me and this site in a different forum, whether it be an internet radio show, another website, etc. Jim won't plug this site or say my name, because then he just validates and gives this site free press, but here's what he'll say:
"There's some internet mark asshole in NY who doesn't know his ass from his elbow!"
"Fuck Sean Mcfucker , he has never drawn a dime in this business, what has he done" (Well I did rile up Jim Cornette, that's gotta count for something right!)
"Everyone with a computer thinks they know wrestling, fuck fuck fuck fuck"
I mean I know we'll get a variation of something like this, so Jim if you call again with your silliness or if you do respond to this in a public forum, at least try to come up with something unpredictable. The same tired old formula is such a bore. Also, there is no need to curse every other word. It makes you look ignorant, uncouth and weak-minded. It is ok to use an expletive once in a while to make a point, but you lose the feeling & meaning of the word fuck when you say it every 2 seconds. It's not 5th grade. It's not bad ass to use the word fuck all the time.
In closing, I would like to be the bigger man and let Cornette know (You can't tell him on the phone because he has to talk over you because he likes to establish power and dominance, which is something his mother probably never gave him, as this is a textbook Freud case) that I forgive him. We are both atheists, but it doesn't hurt to borrow Christianity principles in everyday life. I can bear no grudge against Mr. Cornette. Jim, I understand your weakness and understand your quest for power and how you need to quench your thirst for domination. I hope that maybe you can talk to a counsler and get over your homophobia. That is no way to go through life. I hope you seek anger management. Making threatening phone calls to people you barely know demonstrates a lack of self-control and will-power. Drug addicts also lack self-control and will-power. I do not want to see you go down that path.
Jim Cornette is best served in the wrestling world as a booker. He is a great mind and an asset for the business. I want it to be known, the original point of the story was to show that Jim was woring for free out of the goodness of his own heart for pro wrestling. However, there was a line that Jim was doing too much at ROH, and that's what set Jim off. Jim, it's time to come out and let the truth set you free. We'll be here when you're ready.
I hope you enjoyed this different style of column here on the DOI. Everything in here is 100% true and my opinion only. Sure I am trying to have fun here a bit with Mr. Cornette, but I also did feel strongly enough to put time and energy into typing this piece up. I really do think Cornette needs counseling to overcome whatever issues he may has, and I wish him all the best.
