Mr. Backlund continued wrestling under the new gimmick of an out of touch, yet highly dangerous, maniac out to teach the new generation a lesson.[3] He often appeared in business suits, had a hyperactive personality, and used (or, often, misused) large words to sound important. He also demanded that he be addressed as "Mr. Backlund". He would only sign autographs for wrestling fans if they could recite the names of all of the US Presidents in chronological order
Btw, i loved when they chanted this is awesome before they started wrestling, Chikara fans are funny.
Nothing's gonna happen without a warning
no they actually own RoH
chikara dvds never go on sale though, and 15 is cheaper than the dvd price.
i had to jump on that memorial day sale at highspots, got the 4 most recent(not counting DDT4 which barely came out) PWG dvds for 10 a piece. that's cheaper than i can get them at the shows.

I've been catching up on my ROH DVD's after being away from ROH for about 2 years and I'm totally loving what I'm seeing out of the company. They're still putting on awesome matches, they're building talent, and their World Championship is still protected and promoted as a huge accomplishment and not just a prop for a feud. Way to go ROH! Today alone I've watched 5 ROH DVD's and am still going strong until midnight with my ROH marathon, I've also tossed from Dragons Gate USA in there as well seeing as how DGUSA is putting on some stellar matches.
I remember between 2005-2009 I considered the ROH World Championship to be the top title in the entire sport, I still consider the belt and the title to be prestigious and aside from the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (Not the WWE Championship) I still consider the ROH belt to be the premier title in the sport.

"ROH will be filming an "On the Road with the Briscoes" DVD in a few weeks. Mark and Jay will travel from their home in Sandy Fork, Del., to Charleston, W.V., in their RV with a camera crew coming along to document the adventure. It will likely be the biggest-selling DVD in several years for the company. "
MANY MANY MANY BUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROH Rise & Prove DVD review.....
Well, not quite the event I was expecting seeing how most of the show was just tag-team bouts featuring up and coming wrestlers but it was a nice way to scout talent for the future. The Adam Cole/Elgin match was short but sweet, Michael Elgin is truly an up and coming star who's been on a tear in ROH and is probably going to find himself a shot at singles gold soon enough. I enjoy watching Adam Cole in the ring, he's definitely a young lion and has some potential, but Elgin was definitely his superior and picked up the win. I really, REALLY, enjoyed the Roderick Strong vs Eddie Edwards match despite the interference by Truth Martini, the bout featured some amazing spots and a really intense fight between two former ROH World Champions. Edwards did great in this match and was pretty impressive but I kind of felt that he was outclassed in this bout thanks to Roderick Strong's experience and will to get the job done, I hope to see these two lock horns in other ROH DVD's in the near future.
Moving along the card we have Mike Mondo vs Samson Walker. Mondo has an AMAZING physique, he's kind of a wacky wrestler and doesn't really have a nice demeanor to him to compliment his build and until he does he's just going to be another face on the roster. Mondo really needs to adopt a badass gimmick or a "silent and violent" persona and I think he'd be right in the ballgame. Walker seemed well liked by the (pretty large) ROH crowd and did okay for a man his size, but overall the match was kind of boring and nothing special at all.
We then had a match between the Television Champion: Jay Lethal and a returning BJ Whitmer with Whitmer looking like he's aged 10 years in just the short few years since I've seen him compete last. He looked terrible with his hair cut and his face looked like father time. Any which way, the match wasn't anything special and I was so happy that Lethal won the bout seeing as how he's the better competitor and he was far better in this match than Whitmer was. And finally we had a tag-team match between The Briscoes and ROH World Champion: Davey Richards and Kyle O'Rilley in the main event. This watch was entertaining and I love the intensity both Briscoe brothers bring to the ring in their matches, but what I really loved was Kyle's intensity and seeing him come of age in these DVD's has been great and he's most certainly a future main event star in Ring of Honor. Davey Richards did well in this match too, at the time of this event he was one of the best in the world and showed some nice skills in this bout despite not being the main attraction so I can't fault him for being absent a good chunk of the match so O'Reilly could get some time on camera. Overall it was a fun match and everyone wrestled and fought well, but it didn't really stand out as something that should have been the main event. But it was good.
The crowd was pretty big for this event, it was held as some Masonic Temple building and it held a nice size for ROH, but the camera was focused on a part of the crowd that was light and when it panned out you could see a sea of people on the other side, so maybe camera positioning is something ROH needs to work on. Still, decent show but all the semi-boring tag-team matches killed it for me. All in all I'd rate this event a 3/5 mainly because of the main event and the Lethal match being fun to watch.
