I didn't say Jeff was bad as a heel, or didn't mean too, but the crowd didn't want him as a heel, he was the most popular dude at every show.
On too Abyss story. I fucking hate abyss, i have never liked abyss and i have no idea why.
Maybe it's the constant gimmick matches, maybe it's that stupid hogan hall of fame ring story, but i've never liked the guy.
However, when he appeared in a suit, pretending to be his brother, when it was clearly abyss, asking where his brother was, and everyone else knows he is abyss...i just find it funny.
And, he even used twitter in a proper way to fuel the angle! Meltzer on a podcast said that they gave his last name as Park and Parks in the show, like they didn't know what his name was, and he tweeted him, in lawler speak, what his actual name was.

It's incredibly stupid, i fully admit that, but i honestly want to see where they go with it. This is the first time i have ever cared about Abyss.

i see, so it's a "so bad it's good" kind of thing. i can see that, it's not even doing that for me though.
Mr. Backlund continued wrestling under the new gimmick of an out of touch, yet highly dangerous, maniac out to teach the new generation a lesson.[3] He often appeared in business suits, had a hyperactive personality, and used (or, often, misused) large words to sound important. He also demanded that he be addressed as "Mr. Backlund". He would only sign autographs for wrestling fans if they could recite the names of all of the US Presidents in chronological order

See the last time he was a heel, or when they tried to make Jeff Hardy a heel.
Or when they had Fortune feud with EV2. Lets say I wasn't the only one rooting for Fortune in that feud

I could be wrong on that, but he was a guy known his entire career for just being a tag guy, and now people are calling him the best heel in the business, and he's a singles guy.
There are a couple of other guys I'd say improved, (Christian, because he'd never been given an opportunity to run with the ball, and he was very good in TNA, and Matt Morgan, but just because his WWE stint was so ass-backwards and counter-productive), but Ray's the ideal. I'm not sure anyone would have guessed that TNA would be building shows around Ray at this point (or that he'd suddenly decide to get in good shape) at any point before it started happening.

The only thing that I can compare it to (and it's the reverse, because instead of going serious to joke, Ray's gone jokey to serious) was Booker's King Booker gimmick. That switch carried Smackdown for a while, and it was at a point in Booker's career where he'd kind of started to fizzle a bit.

oh, this reminds me of what a good thing they had with the bucks(GenMe) and tara together and then i get sad they did nothing with it.

I think Jeff as a heel could have been the thing to break TNA through their glass ceiling. People do want to cheer Jeff, and he wouldn't let them. The Jeff Hardy saga goes on the giant "What If" board for TNA.

Fonzie would be a great surprise to come out in the middle of the RVD/Roode ladder match.

what i also liked about jeff's heel run was he didn't come off as a lackey for hulk & bitch, it seemed like they were drinking jeff's kool aid. he cool theme music too.

fonzie made both RVD's matches and promo's better.

The thing that held Jeff's heel turn back was that he is just really bad at promos. For a much a he has that "It" factor, he was never able to bring it to his promos. The only thing I can remember him ever saying was when Punk cashed in MitB on him and he did his really really bad "You cashed in on the wrong guy, Punk" maybe it's just his accent. But the guy can write his own entrance music I will give him that. "Another Me" and "One More Shot" are two of the top four themes TNA has had, AJ's main theme being the third, Jarrett's is first. Also his heel turn was also at the height of his drug use so that of course brought it down, and then you had the Immortal/Fourtune/Buffet Boys stable mess going on

For AJ to go heel he would have to change up his entire style, people don't want to Boo the guy that does the flashy moves.

He was the only one that it made sense to have that many people working under, including Bischoff and Hogan. No one else who was involved with any version of Immortal felt like a guy who Hogan and Bischoff would hitch their wagon to.

Jeff's definitely not the best promo guy, but with the way Immortal was set up, he could just go be weird in the corner while everyone else did the talking for him.

TNA shouldn't have hitched their wagon to Jeff in the condition that he was in, but I don't think they've ever felt that they could be picky about that with their wrestlers. That's why they get burned so often (comparatively).

I'd just rather not see AJ be a heel. By my count, his heel runs have included having Vince Russo as an on-screen manager, being a complete lapdog to Christian (which was decent, but still...), and him wearing Ric Flair's unaltered, baggy suits. If that's the best TNA can do for AJ heel-wise, they shouldn't bother.

i thought his heel promos were pretty good. of course it didn't require much of him but to act weird and resentful of fans for the years he wasted trying to please them.

i actually liked the thing with russo, especially how it led to AJ finally realizing russo didn't actually believe all the things he was saying about AJ. i remember liking heel the "role model" AJ styles in NWA wildside as part of the elite, of course eff g bailey did 98% percent of the talking. it's too bad that promotion wasn't seen by more people, it was awesome.

It wouldn't take much for me to believe that Jeff Hardy resented what his fans expect out of him. It's kind of a "Cane Dewey" deal, but Jeff's probably been responsible for 90% of the truly crazy WWE moments in the last twenty years.

    Hijos del Russo!

That part of the AJ/Russo alliance was good, but there's still a visual problem when the manager is towering over their wrestler. Although I will admit, I'm still waiting for the day when a super-heavyweight uses a nasty, aggressive cruiserweight as his bodyguard (like Low-Ki or Daniel Bryan). It would look funny until the little guy started kicking the hell out of someone.

Im shocked the angle wasn't that Jeff was pissed none of his WWE fans started watching TNA when he left, that sounds right up Russo's alley.

Wait. New Tag champs? Kaz and Daniels?

Ugh. Whatever. I seriously hope they're half the tag team Styles and Daniels were (never mind Triple X), but I have no faith in current Kaz.
