I dont care for New Avengers and most of the characters in its roster, so I dont read it nor do I complain it exists.

Yet I do like plain Avengers, both in terms of roster and the scope of the stories told there; and what I don't like is being forced into the old trick of a crossover like the return of Osborn that will force me to buy and read a book I couldn't care less about.

And yes I know all about being forced into lame books for the sake of a crossover from 17 or so years of reading comics, i just wish they would frigging stop it.

Avengers Academy = "Police in Training"
Young Avengers = "Rookie Police who have passed training"

We need this because it means we more major teams fighting battles which gives us access to more characters. If anything, the thing to question is why some characters are on more than one team. That should not happen.

New Avengers isnt because of just wanting to write luke cage or something silly. It's to focus on more "American" threats while the main Avengers focus more on worldwide threats that need intercontinental travel.
    i rather like that

The pospuse of the New Avengers is to have a more urban team of Avengers.
It is cool, to have a diferent team of Avengers to counter with the stories of the main team, just as it was cool to read in the past stories of West Coast Avengers to counter with the stories of Avengers.
Now there is even two difernt types of Avengers teams (New Avengers and Secret Avengers) which makes the Avengers comics more diverse.
    Pull List:Uncanny Avengers,Avengers,Superior Spider-Man,Daredevil,All New X-Men,Hawkeye,Captain America,Thor:God of Thunder,Swamp Thing,Morbius,Thunderbolts,Iron Man,Fatale.

I don't really get how NA is more of a street team. Their first arc was fighting an outer-dimensional god that was trying to destroy the Earth. The latest was fighting the same group that the main Avengers team is fighting. Now, it's about a hidden mythical city, set in the distant past.

As you mention the stories of the current ongoing are not very street based stories.
Even so the team is basically made of urban super heroes (Luke Cage,Iron Fist,Wolverine...)
And the previous volume of New Avengers had several urban centred story arcs.

I like NA better as simply the Avengers who can't stand Tony Stark.

Taking spiderman and Logan out of the equation since they are involved with big events by default of their marketing status. Ben Grimm and Carol Danvers take them well beyond just a street team. I would say Dr. Strange even in his current form gives them power beyond street team.

I think it's "street" in an abstract way.

I think while the adjectiveless Avengers sit atop mount Olympus in Stark Tower, the New Avengers are the common mans team. In other words, I don't think it's REALLY street. It just sort of feels that way.

Really, the New Avengers exist because during Dark Reign that team of Avengers became friends. And they simply decided to continue working together because quite honestly there's no reason for them to stop. It's not like there's so few bad guys out there that a second Avengers team doens't have stuff to do.

Haven't both teams operated out of the Mansion since Fear Itself?

As of now that's true... Stark Tower end down for like the zillionth time.

Since Cap runs SHIELD I don't know why the Avengers don't just operate out of a Helicarrier. But I guess the mansion gives some readers a more classic old school feel.

The purpose of New Avengers at present is the same as it's always been:

to get more money from readers by sticking the word "Avengers" in the title somewhere.

Well, if Marvel doesn't get money with the Avenger word, they cancel it.

As of now, Avengers is out of the new Avengers Tower that debuted in Avengers Assemble and is seen in AvX.

As often as the Helicarriers are destroyed, you really want to take out all of the Avengers in one fell swoop?

Not all the Avengers... just the adjectiveless team.

New Avengers run out of the mansion, while Avengers Academy is housed West Coast.

I do see the downsides of those Helicarriers as they do tend to crash... but I think there are also some advantages to having a more mobile HQ.
