Keep in mind Polly is a LARGE format book, part of their 'champagne' volumes.

you can always order them from amazon.com and have them shipped over to the uk sometimes it works out cheaper than from amazon.co.uk

    WOW.

Still trying to decide how far I want to go with these volumes. I have all the original books, so while there was a ton of never before seen content in the first volume and a half, the content seems to become mostly redundant after that.

Actually, ALL the volumes have a lot more than the original books did. The original books left out quite a lot of the strips by Breathed's own admission.

^--- WOW. Do you just mean the original Outland books were incomplete, or the Bloom County books also?

(Come to think of it, I don't think i ever got the Outland books) I had all the original Bloom County books, they were incomplete? (They are gone now.) Wow.

I think I do still have the Billy & the Boingers flexi-disc somewhere. Did IDW reprint that?

Is Bloom County a good read? I've heard it's sorta like Doonesbury. Is this accurate?

I think IDW made it available as a mp3 download.

And I was refering to the bloom county books. Breathed has said that the publishers left out large ammounts of strips in past editions but this one reprints them in full with commentary and annotations.

By the author's own admission, he was ripping off Doonesbury for a while and he was called out on it, but it soon developed into its own thing. I find it a good read and have enjoyed the volumes so far.

Yes, but this practice was far more common in the first few anthologies (especially Loose Tales) than in the later ones. By the second half of vol. 2, it's already apparent that far less was initially left out. At this point, it's mostly just the Sunday strips that are occasionally omitted.

While gryhpon is correct that Doonsbury was a clear inspiration for Bloom County, I think Bloom County is a lot simpler and innocent in the beginning. And then, as it grew into its own entity, it got crazier and arguably even more topical than Doonsbury.

    (my bold).

I don't disagree, but I'm not sure it's worth purchasing all those volumes just to get some new content. From what I've seen, it's really just a handful of strips per volume after vol. 2.

A couple of great reprint projects out by IDW this year. Percy Crosby's Skippy should appeal to fans of Charles Schulz and Doug Wright. Otto Soglow's The Little King is a wonder to behold - fabulous precision engineered cartoon minimalism.

I would like to see the LOAC reprint some of the work of Charles Addams, or maybe do a book on him similiar to the Toth books and Caniff.
