Finally! Now this is diversity! I can't wait to see Two-Gun Kid, Rawhide Kid, and Kid Colt again.
Indeed. This sounds like a great addition to Marvel's line of titles. I love the concept. I was a big fan of Aaron's Ghost Rider run which was gritty and grindhouse sure but in many ways a Western as well. Preacher is awesome and proves that modern comic westerns can be huge hits, the Sixth Gun is terrific and selling well and DD Reborn had a lot of the western elements in it to give me confidence that this can be really, really good. Plus we get to see those classic Marvel Gunslingers in the modern landscape - awesome! The preview art is looking sharp.
Seeing as I've really been enjoying Marvel's minis as of late, I'll definitely give this a look.
At least I'll get to take in some nice artwork.
Looks like they're finally diversifying their market as well. I see Six Guns being turned into an ongoing if sales are high. This along with Legion of Monsters, the new Avengers Academy, and even the Forgiven should bring out new and old characters, which I'm glad to see.
Also had to quote:
Marvel really needs to start throwing some heavyweight marketing muscle behind lesser books like these, because if you don't regularly visit the message boards or news sites, it's easy to overlook them."So if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please buy it," Diggle implored. "It's something new, but it's still a Marvel book and has that Marvel entertainment value to it. It's a fun read. It's something new and exciting. Readers are always saying how jaded they are with the mainstream, and hopefully with something like this you get the best of both worlds; an indie sensibility but still from a major publisher. So I'd love to see people put their money where their mouth is and buy something a bit different.
Oh heck yes, I agree with you 100%. That's the problem though: Axel said that "5 Ronin" outsold every other title digitally, and if that happens, then you can give a more diverse push. 5 Ronin had ninjas, this has western, and even titles like Legion of Monsters has monsters. All the diversity is in the mini's and unless they give it that push, they won't sell or become ongoings.
So Marvel, visit the websites, promote you stuff. You have the money and the power, so let's do that.
I had no idea that 5 Ronin did that well. This is definitely the kind of book that Marvel should be pushing digitally though.
I'm also pretty excited about Legion of Monsters.![]()
At last somebody remembers Tarantula!
She could have been Vicoria Hand instead of Victoria Hand, she could have been in Shadowland or in the new Heroes for Hire, but no, she was not iconic enough.
Now I'm a bit worried about this "no superpower" thing. She never had super powers, she was just incredibly skilled and smart. I hope that sticks.

I'm really looking forward to Six Guns. It should be a cracking title. Nice to see the classic Western characters given a chance.

I don't buy into that 5 Ronin outselling every other book digitally. It sounds to me like spin. Like it might have outsold other books released digitally that week or all the issues together may have outsold other single issues that month.
It has Alonson vanity project all over it so he's going to muddy the waters when it comes to facts. Most things Alonso has a direct hand in fails badly. The guy hates superheroes and runs a superhero comic company.
Presumably this is out of continuity/stand alone story? Looks interesting.
Yup. I'll pick be picking this up.
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!
If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.

What if it did outsell everything else digitally? Sales in physical say otherwise, but digital is a whole new ball game. You got to take in consideration that there may be casual readers on digital and if they see something like 5 Ronin with superheroes reimagined as ninjas, they'll pick it up. And something like this could have potential to outsell like 5 Ronin as well.
