Hey, Kate's on a cover. That's worth a double post.
Hey, Kate's on a cover. That's worth a double post.
With all of the new artist anxiety I found this bit comforting;
and this; That really left me with the art above all else and thankfully, it is very good. There is an honest simplicity to Tyler Crook’s art and he draws character very well, particularly Kraus, who manages a number of emotions, despite having a clear white helmet for a head.
There are also some well-done creepier moments.
Only one week to go. I'm excited to read it!Tyler Crook on art is a little more cartoony than I’m used to from the Hellboy universe, though he draws disgusting piles of human flesh in a fun way that’s nicely reminiscent of Eric Powell’s work on The Goon
Recent Nature Sightings:
Sept 24: Two Orcas close to shore.
Nov 14: Trumpeter Swans, Bald Eagles catching salmon (and a duck!), Harbour Seals, Steller Sea Lions, Kingfisher.
Great cover! Really looking forward to this, and what Tyler's gonna bring to the table.
"Okay, I know I said I wasn't going to shake things up, but we're going to have to get some pants on this one."
I've been checking the Dark Horse website daily for the preview to go up. I was thrilled to finally see a preview just a few minutes ago, but the link doesn't work. Is it working for anyone else?

It's working for me...
(Oh gosh, the implications of that conversation. Bad times. Also, go Devon!
No really, go.
Far away.)
Here's a glowing review from Broken Frontier.
Also that preview is interesting... Devon's got his beard now!

I know, right? I keep hoping that Panya is messing with his head or something and it'll be revealed that he's not such an ass.
Or maybe Abe's spirit will swap bodies with him, leaving Devon the bloated "tard frog" (as my roomate call it) from Liz's vision.
Or maybe Ben will turn into a monster and get him.
Or the Ogo Pogo- we have not seen that yet (though Abe and HB fought it).
Devon's death by Ogo Pogo would be worth reading. I'm just sayin'.
Tension, Apprehension, and Dissension have begun.
Ohh, I'd pay money to see that! Though from the looks of this preview
((SPOILERS))
...maybe Devon's off to do whatever it was that made him the big manly man he was in the previews. Maybe he'll learn some life lessons, become a better man... or maybe he'll find Fenix and team up with her to help her do whatever it was she was trying to do.
Oh, and I was thinking, if they pull the plug on Abe and let him die (which is what I inferred from that conversation) what are they going to do with his body? Cuz, I mean, I could see Johann just jumping on in there. (Or maybe that's why he's supporting the decision... oh gosh.)
Anyway, wasn't Abe technically 'dead' when they found him? They should just keep him in a jar for a while, shock him occasionally until he wakes up. This should be old hat to them...

That could explain why Johann as we know him isn't in any of those pictures in the future. An interesting idea.
I know Devon's been acting like an ass lately, but I find him a compelling character. His development is interesting. Hopefully his time looking for Fenix will change even more drastically. It's what this series does best. It never goes stagnant.
True. We don't know if that future will ever come to pass, but I hope it does. I've seen way too many books, TV shows and movies that go the route of being able to change the future, and it always feels like a cop-out.
Of course, if you want to get technical, if it doesn't come to pass then it was never a future at all, but rather a fiction used to motivate characterts into a certain course of events ;)
