"The Shadow knows..."
[There's a place in my mind. The one part that isn't looking for a joke. When laughter breaks down, and humor can't quiet its hunger, the rage gets out]-Harley Quinn
They just have to give this to Matt Wagner to write, don't they?
"He knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men . . .
. . . he is . . . THE SHADOW!"
Show me a bitter nazi and I'll show you a sour kraut.

I'd buy that.
Of course, I might also buy this for completely different reasons...:

Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...
I have newfound intrest in pulp heroes and i hope the writer for The Shadow doesnt suck.
Pull List:
The Walking Dead,Fatale,Near Death,Storm Dogs,Happy,BPRD,XO-Manowar
American Vampire,Animal Man,Swamp Thing
Daredevil, Winter Soldier,Indestructible Hulk
Curious what characters do Dynamite have the rights to? I was thinking they could do a new take on Defenders of The Universe with Flash Gordon and the Phantom finding new members like the Shadow.

"I was raised in your shadow. Now, you' re gonna die in mine. No one will even remember your name"-Lex Luthor: Smallville
I haven't picked up that many , but so far every title I have tried from Dynamite mostly their classic pulp heroes, were all set (for better or worse) in the right time period...
Lone Ranger
Zorro
Matt Wagner's Year One Green Hornet
Warlord Of Mars
The exception being Last Phantom, which is a contemporary tale as the name implies, but I believe the Phantom has long been established by the author as a Legacy character passing the mantle to the next generation,- "...and my sons and their sons will follow me." So this made sense.
And it looks like Flash Gordon will also be set in the right time period.
I'm pretty confident The Shadow will be too.

I believe they did pick up the Mandrake and subsequently Lothar license, which gives them the whole group. (not counting their made for tv kids)
The thing with Defenders of the Earth is they were all King Feature properties, hence the group connection. The Shadow (to me anyway) would seem like an ill fit in that group.

More great news.
Banned once...and still pissed about it. Well, okay...more like annoyed about it.
Can't wait for this. I've always loved The Shadow, and to have a brand new comic series is exciting!
This arrived on my doorstep yesterday and I flipped through it and found that I was really impressed by the artwork, but when I sat down and read the book today I can honestly say that this is probably Garth's best work since the late 90's or early 2000's. I was blown away at the characterization and the way the plot flowed through the pages, I also loved the gore within the artwork that really helped to bring this book to a new level of "awesome". Great stuff from Dynamite Entertainment, as per usual!
