Pretty sure a lot of us have been expecting a deus ex machina since Issue 1. That is how most of the events seem to end anyway.

Be fair this is the press release for all those people that are going to jump aboard for issue 6. I do that all the time buy the last two issues of a mini series.

Obviously if you haven't ben interested in the first 5 issues, seeing Thor being carried, a picture of a bridge and Iron Man standing voer some steam are going to make you want to buy into this train wreck.

They've always been that way, though.

If they did all those promos hyping the event( with characters who aren't even shown in the main book), then they can whip up a few during the actual event itself. That's just me though.

No, they haven't. Usually when they want to hype something they release preview pages of the next issue. Or brand new teasers. Or future covers, at the very least.
