Joesph C. You hear? BrotherUnitNo_4 has a bridge he's selling! :D
Anyone who doesn't like Miles Morales is a racist.
Pichelli is a great artist and I look foward to see more work by her.
BUT!
This move, with the new Spidey, on it's core, is absolutely no different from One More Day.
Yes. The character you followed for decades was gonne and another one was put in his place. They had the same NAME, but they were different characters. This time around, not even the names are the same.
You see, one of the reasons superhero comics have such passionate followers is because they are reassuring. When something like this happens, you break the bond of trust there is between those who create the stories of the character and those who buy the make believe that are comic books. You show behind the curtins and what we see is that there's nothing reassuring about the backstage. The bond can be break whenever they want. In the current "regular" Marvel Universe, theoreticly, you can call Mephisto any time you want and make 20 years of stories disappear. That's, to me, what really pissed people off, more then anything else.
Now, in the Ultimate Universe, anybody can "die" (between quotation marks, of course) and someone else -- that has the proper mainstream media news value -- will just step into the shoes of the recently deceased.
If you want to make a black and spanic Spider-Man, awesome. I think it's great! Beyond great! But don't cheat. Don't take someone you made us fell in love with and kill him and put someone else on his place. Insted, for example, make a new comic, call it Spider-Man 21th Century or something. You would get the same "Spider-Man is a black and spanic kid now" kinda news you got with this pathetic move.
