He sounds like a pretty level-headed guy.
    "We must fight on!"
"We'll die. We fight and we die, that's how it goes."
    "Then we die gloriously!"
"There's an important word there, and it's not gloriously."

Excalibur #1. That's was my introduction to Alan Davis and I've been blown away his work ever since. Easily in my top five favorites of all time...

Great interview with one of the best ever. Love his no-nonsense down-to-earth attitude towards his work and comics as a profession. I first saw his work on Batman and the Outsiders way back and have been hooked ever since. I know he's Marvel exclusive, but DC is shooting themselves in the foot by not collecting his Outsiders and Detective work with Mike Barr. A mind-bogglingly foolish decision.

How refreshing - a writer/artist who's not arrogant about his work. Thank you Alan Davis, nothing as yet compares to your awesome run on Excalibur.

I also first noticed Davis on Excalibur. He's produced constant, solid art for an amazing amount of time. I can't think of any other artist that has produced such high-quality artwork for so long. You never have to worry that the art might be sub-standard when you see Davis' name on a book.

I really do hope that Alan decides to go back to DC one day. Or at least work for both companies.

Great artist. I really enjoyed his run on Excaliber and X-Men.

Draws the best Nightcrawler, hands down.

A more fluid and dynamic artist I've never come across...

And the man drew the best Wolvie/Sabertooth battle ever (Uncanny X-Men 213).

He is an he's a pretty nice bloke, if somewhat shy actually. just don't ask him about how much he contributed story wise to Captain Britain and Marvelman and he might get angry.

One nice wee story about him. When he first submitted work to Marvel UK when Dez Skinn was in charge he didn't realise that comics were drawn on a larger scale that how they looked on the printed page so he drew his first few strips the same size as they were printed which was on A4 paper. Dez managed to put him right and point him at the direction of Paul Neary who helped him out.

Alan Davis is probably my favorite comic artist ever.
He is one of the rare few I'll buy a book from just for the art.
His use of panel and page space is something i rarely see others use so effectively.
He always seem to make the most of the space available to him.
He is also a great writer.

I want to see more of the Clan Destine.

    Thumbs up

I'm another huge AD fan, loved his work since I first saw him on Uncanny X-Men, then Excalibur "back in the day".

He is one of the few artists IMO who can make ANY bad comic look gorgeous.

I'm now to the point where I will buy his work sight unseen, even if I don't like the characters/property, I enjoy his art so much.
Comics still reading: Saga, Sixth Gun, Walking Dead, All New X-Men, Daredevil, Fury MAX. DC New 52 isn't the worth the paper its printed on...
