Holy. Fucking. Shit.
This is Hellraiser meets a Tool video. I need this, immediately. Add one to the pre-order list if you ever find enough people and/or the right publisher.

squashmaster - Funny you should mention Tool - guess who my first choice to play Rau would be, in an XTIN movie?
I haven't seen the Hellraiser movies. White people in black leather are kinda generic, there's also the Borg and the Strangers. I could have spent more time developing the costumes of Sina IV's period.
Tool was a big influence. Without Ten Thousand Days, there would be no Rau. When I first got that album, it inspired me to take a pic of myself and turn it into a monster that would live in Tool land. I put it aside for a long time, but I kept coming back to it. It had so much more charisma than Taonui or Sina. I thought about putting it in - somewhere. At first Rau was a minor messenger of the gods. In time he took over the whole story.
(BTW Rau is not me, and his name is not based on my name or Ra's name. Rau's name is a reworking of the name of a Polynessian god. I believe it was Ruoa or something similiar. I can never remember it exactly. Ruoa, Taonui, and Sina are all Polynessian gods. Sina and Taonui sound good, Ruoa didn't roll off the tongue as well.)

The torture imagery and costume styles are very reminiscent of Hellraiser. Honestly, most of the Hellraisers are pointless in the story department and nothing but gore fantasy, but the original is a notable horror movie for its creature design and creative over-the-top gore.

The first Hellraiser movie is a classic - definitely worth checking out. I agree with the comparison. There was a Clive Barker graphic novel series called Tapping The Vein from back in the day which was a bunch of twisted short stories and amazing art. XTIN reminded me of it right away. There's clearly a market for this, especially when you consider that you're not just looking for fans in one country - but the whole world. Digital publication might be a good option.
Just added my vote.

I'm gonna start reading this tomorrow and leave my thoughts, but first I wanna say that you're superbly talented. Not that you needed telling![]()
Good news this week! First off, issue 2 pg 34 was featured as a daily deviation on Deviant Art - it was up on the front page of a huge, huge art site. It got over 7000 views, and added 47 new followers to my account.
Then XTIN won Best Horror Comic 2011 on The Duck. Sweet!
It's beginning to feel like this comic is going to take off!
Alex Keller - Heh well I'm still lousy at painting. I'm feeling good about the line art and better about the storytelling though!

That remmind's me did you ever read Conan the Barabarian the books or the comics by marvel or DarkHorse 'cuz your or some of the Lovecraft stories ?In some level your work remminds me of them
I believe 16 has came out a little above average. I'm always surprised when I manage to cram in that much text, without getting "wall of text" problems, and daunted because I thought that would stretch out over two or three pages. This chapter may end up only going 22ish pages, like a normal comic.
I've been getting retrospective recently with the release of Skyrim. I'd almost completely forgotten about it, but I worked for Bethesda for a few months back in the 90's. That was my first "real" job. Anyway I"ve been looking up a few of the people I knew back then. Todd Howard and Bruce Nesmith were both great guys who deserve to have a hit the size of Skyrim. I storyboarded a cut scene for Redguard, but worked the most with Bruce on the unpublished "Tenth Planet." I did a lot of design work for that game that will never see the light of day. Most of which would look like crap now, but it was cool back then. If you saw the Battlestar Galactica pilot, Ragnar station looks a lot like a station I made for Tenth Planet. Except mine was cooler ;)
Here's a guy who started shortly after I did -

Istvan appears to be in a lead design position himself these days. He always had a great sense for design, and was a really good fit for the company. As an artist he was an influence on some of the interface design type stuff I did for a while afterwards. At the time I couldn't imagine why you'd want to design interfaces or computer cases. And I still don't :) But I have more respect for those who do. I'm going to upload (for a vote incentive) an interface design I did for an old demo reel, which maybe is a little Istvan-influenced.
Well that's enough of a trip down memory lane for this post. How about telling me how much you like my comic cause I've gone real far out on a limb to make it. Maybe I should still be working games as some have suggested . . . I really like my comic though!
Scurlogg_Hawkk - No to the Lovecraft stuff. I've heard the name Cthulu but that's it.
I've got a bunch of the Conan books. IIRC they were written from Robert Howard's notes, finished by L. Sprague DeCamp and Lin Carter. The covers are by Frank Frazetta?
Conan isn't a conscious influence, but if it's any kind of influence, the John Carter of Mars books are much more so. Yeah, the casual nudity probably does come from the John Carter books. At least as much as from the spandex world of superhero comics.
For the next GN, I have been consciously thinking of Conan, John Carter. sword and sorcery. The next books don't take place in a Kali Yuga, so they can't be as dark as this one. Nor would I want them to be, this is enough.
