Don't get me wrong--I do like River, but her and the Doctor have no heat at all. It's like they're just really good friends, not lovers. It feels totally forced. I think Moffat rushed the whole thing. I thought it was going to be a slow building relationship, like River would be his companion for a few years before they got together. Instead, Moffat cut to them being a couple without bothering to show how they started to like each other. Love ya, River, but your trip to the library can't come fast enough.
Thus do I write the first chapter of my new scripture. And the first verse is "Let it all burn."
PHOENIX INVICTUS!
How do we know the 11th is her last Doctor for sure? I always assumed she'd be around for at least another Doctor. I also assume he tells her his name at this upcoming "fields of Trenzalore, when the question is asked". Whether or not that will be Matt Smith or the next actor remains to be seen. Depends on if "the fall of the 11th" is before or after the question being asked.

I just really hope they NEVER answer the question. I mean, how sad would it be if they finally revealed the Name of the Doctor, and it turned out to just be Bruce, or Steve, or Phil?
It needs to be one of those never answered questions. He knows his name, and so does River. But revealing it can only lead to disappointment and fandom uproar.

* All my comments are strictly my opinion, you'll notice my tongue never leaves my cheek.
That's why I hope he whispers it into her ear and the fans never find out what he says. My worst fear is that his real name is Jesus Christ because of the resurrection/regeneration allegory but I don't think they would do that as it would piss people off royally.
Another fear I have is 'when the question is asked' they would break the 4th wall and reveal Doctor Who is in fact a television series in some parallel reality, that would be frustrating to I think to alot of people, not just myself.

Exactly...and say River dies or she walks on to meet the Doctor. They could have it where he basically fibs to her , knowing that his fib is something to get close and he always had a plan for it. Like this...
Clara - "So your name is really _____ ?"
Doctor watching River walk away - "...No. I have a fail safe name I use and gave it to her. In many worlds and times Clara I have had many names. I gave River one that I would know."
Clara - "But she's your wife...surely your close enough to give your wife your name."
Doctor - "She was never my wife in that sense Clara. She was more a friend who would help me , give me clues and hints on things. But no...she wasn't a wife. More a friend who I was close to and will never cross their paths again. A chapter ends..."
That closes it. But knowing how dumb it will be...they will hammer that the young Doctor has some type of chemistry with River and claim she's actually a real wife.

"Batman."
*lightning streaks across the sky, thunder booms*
"Let me guess. My theories appall you, my heresies outrage you, I never answer letters, and you don't like my tie!"
Bessie could out do any of those old Batmobiles anyday of the week.
While it was not said outright , it was very clearly implied in the Moffat written minisode "Last Night" that sometimes in the future , the 11th doctor would bring her to the place where she sees him for the last time (as song has said in the library episode). I'm sure there are loopholes but who knows ?

Because people fall in love with people all the time. It was the Doctor discovering his human side again, especially after the Time War, plus it helped the audience empathise with an alien character who most of them had never seen before.
This wasn't a programme written for the fans because that would have died, this was written for a mainstream audience, including it's core audience of kids not to mention the teenage girls RTD wanted to get on board so he wrote a story they'd enjoy.
You never write for fans only.
