Finally got around to watch the Xmas Special (had to work both days) and I just read the thread. I find it funny that everbody is talking that Richard E. Grant was wasted. How about Sir Ian McKellan? At least Grant got to do a little acting instead of just a few voiceover lines.

But overall I liked the special and I want to see more Vastra, Jenny and Strax.

It was during one of the annual budget reviews that showed the Beeb were spending nothing like what they should on original drama programming, and it was Torchwood which was used as one of the examples. I have to agree with it because the BBC hasn't the money to develop new programming and milk programmes like Who for all it's worth, nor should they.

Me and a friend joked about the Doctor Who DVD prices here at stores and we brought up how many are moving to blu-rays now. How shows and more are going to blu-ray releases.

Me - "Could you imagine the prices they want for Doctor Who blu-ray ?"

Him - "If they want $70 bucks for 13 episodes for a season , likely over $100 for blu-ray."
"Heads up-- If Havok's position in UA #5 really upset you, it's time to drown yourself hobo piss. Seriously, do it. It's the only solution." - Rick Remender

    Sucks 200 character limit.

It was enjoyable, but nothing special. I imagine nothing will ever top the Christmas Carol one from two years back.

I have mixed feelings on the new companion. I feel like Moffat is trying too hard to point out "Omg look! Witty banter!"

The Go-Gos: I'm gonna spend My Christmas with a Dalek?!?

This is probably the worst Christmas song ever made. Who'd wanna spend Christmas with those homicidal pepperpots? They'd blow your bloody head off! Are there some of you in the UK who remember hearing this song when it was released?
Thus do I write the first chapter of my new scripture. And the first verse is "Let it all burn."

I don't know if it was the 3-month drought of Who or the charm of Jenna-Louise Coleman, but this the special was my favorite episode of Who since early series 6. Great stuff.

Someone else who's only just got around to watching it after three days of putting shit loads of sodding Playmobile together, and yep, I enjoyed it.

And I'm a little bit in love with Jenna Louise-Coleman.

    Oh my, yes.

And I'm sure she'd be thrilled to learn she has two 40-odd-year-old fathers of two fighting over her on the Internet.

It's the Sontaran Christmas Carols (one of the BBC advents for the Christmas Special).

and half the time, embedding is disabled by request, so I stopped bothering with it, but here it is:
