It is something the new series does a lot of (wasting actors who pop up for a cameo and vanish off) but wasting Grant annoyed me as there was much more that could have been done, and there was even the vague hint of a bit of backstory behind a villain but it ended up being another missed opportunity.

Oh yes, that's a right annoying pain in the arse now. We get the gag, honestly we do but it keeps getting rammed down the viewers throat. I do think Moffat thinks he's being enormously clever every time he throws it in.

It's not, it's very much like Davison's control room and it films far better than the previous one which had far too many shiny surfaces, not to mention the console was trying too hard with the whole whimsical device and that central console which looked awful. No, much prefer this one though they need to sort out the CGI as it all looked far too rushed.

Its something that may tie into the 50th anniversary of Who. It should be interesting to see what they come up with. Hopefully , it doesn't involve River Song.

The early timeslot was perfect. Sticking it on later when most kids have been up since 4am opening pressies would have lost a few million for them, so ticking it on beofre the kids wear themselves down was the way to do it. Plus there's the iPlayer figures to be added on after next week. It'll never beat Eastenders or Corrie, but getting ahead of nostalgia porn like Downton and Call the Midwife is a bloody good show considering it wasn't really a stand alone episode.

They're supposed to meet at some point in the rest of series 7.

Well she does look pretty good and if your gonna do an hour and 20 minute show , you couldn't do worse lol.

To be fair I expected a lot more build to throwing a companion so quick at the Doctor. I was expecting there to be awhile before Clara would team with the Doctor. It surprised me they went for it from the start and had her follow him.

In his appearance he is a kid. He's a young 20 something kid in his appearance. Yes he's 1,000 years old and has saved the universe as he joked in the preview of the coming season. But he has conflicts inside as we saw. Plus once he travels alone awhile he gets moody and all. Remember earlier this season Amy called him out and claims that when he travels alone , he gets that way. So its no shock he had became a very moody , sad person over his loss and who knows how long he traveled alone before the Christmas special. From what they claimed it had been awhile since he started traveling alone .

Well except a later timeslot has never had that affect in the past. Not that it matters - it will get a massive timeshift and is already number 1 in the iPlayer charts.

It was an hour long so you didn't have a lot of time to juggle the various balls Moffat was trying to juggle which meant the actual threat was secondary, which was a pity.

We've seen this before at least three times. That's the problem; it's become overused to the point of it being genuinely lazy rather than actually working to show us the Doctor developing as a character, so we get this shorthand of 'miserable git, then back to normal' while Moffat tries hard to develop the companions.

I seem to remember it being given as a reason why it was down a bit last year, plus a later timeslot just doesn't make sense.

Which its been over used ...I agree. I guess the reason Moffat and others have done this is to shy viewers...why the companion is needed. That the Doctor needs one to balance him in a way. I get why they do it from time to time. Its to show the viewer...the Doctor really needs that person with him. To make him feel more in a way.

I liked seeing his face in the nebula, it was a nice touch; I just wish we saw the other Doctors faces as well, that's the only thing keeping the new sequence from being perfect in my mind.

But those intros are supposed to have the face of the current Doctor only, not of all of them. It's a throwback to the classic series, and you didn't see Tom Baker's face in Sylvester Mccoy's intro.
...And does Mr. Goddanm Batman says so much as ''Thanks''? OF COURSE not. That'd hardly be GRIM AND GRITTY, would it?

I saw the special last night, the plot was kind of blah, and Jenna was nice as Clara, part of me hopes she dies everytime she sees the doctor, because I think moffat would do something like that to make him seem tortured.

I know, but I think it would be perfect if it had them all.
