Batman needs a partner yeah maybe but lets see a new role come into fruition.
Weather we like it or not, they will have a new Robin appear. DC needs the character because it's been a key player in the stories since Dick's inception. I'm guessing we're going to see probably either Harper or some other young adult in the role in the future. I do have a return theory which is where the ourboros cube actually holds his soul and eventually either a new clone or a revived Damian gets into a "soul" fight with the son of the bat and he takes over the body.

My other guess, fan boy down the road becomes a writer and writes him into life once again.

Here's a little Damian and Earth 2 fanart:

In case anyone wonders, that's Earth 2 Bruce and Selina Wayne, Huntress's parents, who are separated from their child by the fact that they too are dead. Sadness...

    I'll do it!

Seriously though, the reality of his death has sunk in. I've accepted it, just as I've accepted the fact that he's probably not coming back anytime soon. Maybe one day--years from now--perhaps 5-10, or even longer. But not anytime in the near future. Okay. Whatever, DC, I've accepted that you let an exiting writer kill off the only good character your company has created in the last decade or more. (Yes, I realize the "exiting writher" I mention also created Damian for DC--doesn't change my position.)

Having come to terms with this, I still feel like his death was mishandled by DC to the point it felt gimmicky more than shocking and poorly depicted by the writer, Morrison, where it seemed to be too quick of a death, too one-and-done, too easy, too simple, too gruesome, very pointless, and (again) almost gimmicky in that it's now just another thing to put more darkness into Bruce's life. The whole point of Damian, apparently, was to further another character's plotline (Bruce's)--even though Damian outshined Bruce and nearly the entire Batfamily combined in every way, shape and form imaginable. (Yes, I know he was always meant to die, according to Morrison--and yea, that doesn't change my position here either.)

And seriously, whatever story they're going to have rolling out of this, where Bruce questions whether or not he should continue on as Batman--or if he should ever allow another Robin--it would be so totally and completely unbelievable for him to keep going as The Dark Knight. Simply put, he would quit; at least for a while--any father who would continue on with his day (er, night) job like Bruce seems to be doing (see Detective Comics #18 for proof) while barely mourning his son is no father at all--that's what you call a scumbag parent. And after losing his son, he would simply never in a million years allow anyone else to be his sidekick as Robin and take that legacy away from his dead son. He just wouldn't do it. To have Bruce doing anything other than quitting is sloppy management and piss poor storytelling. If he doesn't quit as Batman, then the death of Damian storyline was really never meant to have any meaningful impact here...which makes the whole thing just worthless.

But we all know he will continue on as Batman, just as we all know there will eventually (probably sooner than later) be another Robin...which just makes me a less enthusiastic Batman reader.

Signed! I think this should be promoted in its own thread.

I started off hating Damien (kinda only been into the comics for a year and a half but read the issues where Dick was Batman) but then really grew to like the character. Batcow moment being one of my favourite moments.

Although he is killed of, I don't really care. I think I posted before about comic book characters usually just come back to life at some point down the line and it just annoys me that when a good character dies in a comic, I couldn't give a shit.

People looking to petition to bring him back. Leave him be! Let him stay dead!
In a few years time everyone will be complaining how out of character he has become anyway.
