This will lose them more comic sales by spoiling than getting more sales because of the shocking announcement.

These leaks to USAToday should cease...

Still, I am liking the news

This first of all is sure a spoiler alright. I was however thinking i was gonna see who this guy is once i visted my store but, really, what else can you look forward when your a marvel boy? A spoiler that jest tells you everything for the sake of the comic sale to level up. What do marvel care more about? Making money or jest the ruining storys we,re enjoying?

Well Way to go marvel you sure blow this one alright i can ya. Big time!!!

    It's shocking how much I don't care.

I'd only read this rubbish if Jessica Drew was the new hero, posing as a Spider"man". Otherwise, Peter Parker is Spiderman, and this is just the gimmick to end all gimmicks.

Sure it's good that they wanted to have a new Spidey of different ethnicity but I don't know how many were surprised by this... I wasn't.
All in all I'm feeling mixed about their new direction with Ult. Uni.
On one hand it's good that they're finally using Ult. Uni. the way it should be used; telling completely new stories with completely new characters. But on the other hand this whole re-molding of Ult. U still just seems a little like they're trying to be different for the sake of being different...

This smacks of "Gimmick," so hard & so obviously that i have trouble taking it seriously.

i have no problem with it being an ethnic character, or to put it another way "Hello manfactured controversy, i see you there, hiding behind a veil of pretend legitimacy."

What pissess me off, is that Marvel is going to say things like "What you have is a Spider-Man for the 21st century who's reflective of our culture and diversity. We think that readers will fall in love with Miles Morales the same way they fell in love with Peter Parker."

However what that translates to from "PR bullshit" into basic english is "Hey guys, we can pretend to be topical & on the ball... We are still relevent in the contemporary market, we are still hip & wid it you... Rof-ol-copter in the his-ouse, yo whats the 411... See, we is still fly... For shizzle."

I would love for the introduction of Miles Morales to have been a real thing & not Marvels attempt to capatilize on the "ethnic diversity" band-wagon, thats been sweeping comics for the last 6 months. You introduce a character of colour because he's a cool character, not because he's a black character & thats a great way to generate controversy buzz.

It'd be sad, if it weren't so darn blatant a cry for attention. Miles Morales to you i would like to apologies for the ignaminious way you've been entered into comics & i hope you can survive being known as "The Black Spiderman," for the rest of comic-dom history.

If this was the mainline Spider-man line, this might be newsworthy to the real world. If they had the stones to follow up with a black/latino Spidey on the big screen this might be newsworthy. (Sony could have waited a year to film and it would have been a better excuse to reboot a 9 year old film franchise than 'they got in a tiff with the last director and started over to spite him'.)

This? Its like DC having a black Superman in an Elseworlds series. It aint the 'real thing', so its just a novelty act.

Personally I'm not even going to get emotionally invested in this character since I can't help but see him as the latest in a growing line of replacement characters, which is a shame since I could really jump on board if it wasn't for that fact. I'm more worried about unfortunate implications that could come with this character being black. But a black character wearing a black suit....I don't know, something just feels a bit odd about it.

    Sounds Interesting.

Less whining about PC would be nice.

Still I guess Sony feels kinda stupid.

This reminds me of an episode of Boston Legal where Al SHarpton stormed courtroom, and one of the things he said was "Why can't we have a black Spider-Man?" (It was relevant, something to do with racism and a local theater running annie)

So...now we actually DO have a Black Spider-Man. cool.

Being a minority myself, I think it's cool the new Spider-man is one as well. A brand-new character was always a better choice than any of the other options. But still... I'd rather have Peter back.

I gotta say I actually really like that Marvel went with a minority. I myself am as whitebread as they come (Irish/German decent) but it's neat to see such a flagship character be so drastically changed in one aspect.

I will reserve final judgement until I read the issue's but if this is another Jimmy/Teddy type of rip off than I think the UU is kinda becoming a joke.

I know what they're going for, Marvel is trying to "re-interpret" their classic hero's but if they wanted to do that then they should've started a line with that in mind. We've already had the greats with some of the best stories ever told about them in the UU. I want more of that and I want to read the "culturally accurate" stories. Seriously though if this is the case than the UU has gotten pathetic.

Ultimate Wolverine is coming back, sort of!
