Sum of us just watchd dis movie & found it surprising enjoyable as a strait-up action popcorn film though der were sum plot holes as much as several hints leading 2 a sequel. gR8 GRAFIX & a really gd diverse cast(Caucasian, Asian, Pacific Islander, & a seriously badass retired cripple).

We would say d gr8est dissappointment with dis movie is d lead actor(from John Carter) who was absolutely terrible though thank gdness alot of d support cast with much betta acting(yes...even Rihanna) get major screen time.

Really luv those 'shredders' machines. D Japanese Capt & d retired supa-tuff Black cripple stole d whole movie("oh my god...a cyborg" LOL!).

The reason they replaced the snakes with chutes is because the took out the "Christian morality game" aspect. Originally, the board game was covered with pictures of kids doing good and bad things. Good for the ladders. Bad for the snakes. Snakes, of course, being an idea throwing back to the story of Genesis with Adam and Eve. In America, they just wanted it to be a plain old fun game without the preachy parts.

As for "Cluedo", I have no idea in the world how to pronounce that. Is it "Clue-doo" rhyming with "Voodoo" or is it "Clue-Dough" rhyming with "Judo"? Clue, at least, is a real word that people know how to pronounce.

I plan on watching this film strictly because of the chance of hearing Liam Neeson scream "YOU SUNK MY BATTLESHIP!"

In Canada we call them "Snakes and Ladders" and "Clue".

Don't waste your money. No one says "You sunk my battleship" and Liam Neeson has about 10 lines of dialogue and isn't involved in any of the action. It was a paycheck role for him.

I don't understand the reason the movie chose the rather improbable premise of using battleships (20th Century war technology largely obsolete in 21st Century naval warfare) to fight aliens from outer space. It would have made much more sense to set this movie during World War II and made it a war epic...you know, like a modern version of SINK THE BISMARK.

Or, if they really must do battleship vs. aliens, go all out and do a SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO/STAR BLAZERS adaptation movie (although Japan has beat the U.S. to the punch on that).

No matter how good this movie could possibly be, it's not going to be better than seeing Avengers again, so if you're going to spend money at the movies this weekend, go with the safe bet...

or at least buy tix for Avengers and sneak into Battleship.

and for the battle ship.... I belive the USS Missouri can be recomissitioned into service if there is a need ( IE Her role in the first desert war)

The reviews on Rotten Tomatoes aren't as bad as one would expect from this type of movie.

some reviewers even said they went in planning on hating but thought it was a decent movie.

That's what I did (went to see Avengers again). But, who knows, maybe this will do well enough that Yahtzee 3D can get greenlit soon.

I saw it and i thought it was ok. There were even a good couple of cool cheering moments.
But it was seriously longer than it needed to be, i think now for some weird reason Hollywood has made the formula that "big movies" need to be 2 hours plus long as a standard and that is really not helping some films.

The movie was idiotic militarily. It was contrived and demonstratd no real understand of the warships involved. It was fun as a shoot'em up.

One could have made a decent naval vs. aliens movie with some intelligent plotting but not here. It's not worth detailing all the problems.

BTW, the adapted novel makes the movie look like the work of a genius. David wrote it an afternoon for the bucks. It's more stupid.

Could you please enlighten us in the use of warship in battles against aliens?
I really want to know where it went wrong.
