Well from all the hints that have been dropped, the 2012 event is definitely and finally the culmination of who and what Hope really and her Phoenix/Jean Grey connection. Its no coincidence that Mr. Sinister is coming back in the final issue of Uncanny just as the road to this event starts. Mr. Sinister knows more than anyone except maybe Cable and he is coming back by next summer for the final showdown.

We'll finally know who Hope is and as a result see Jean finally stepping outside the shadows, as she too has been involved this whole time. And it will all lead to the new direction for Astonishing X-Men (if not a reluanch), as the O5 band together one more time for the X-Men's 50th anniversary. What menace will bring the O5 together after all they have and why can't no one know about it? The one threat who single handedly hurt mutantkind the most, Cassandra Nova!

I am guessing it will be more complex than Hope going nuts. Probably, it will be some morally gray or ambiguous choice that she makes that results in a sh*t tonne of peope dying as opposed to just a sh*tload of people dying. Or it may be that she loses control of her powers which causes them to flare up. Either way, it will be some scenario where some X-men will see it as not entirely her fault while others will think Bishop is right and want to kill the b*tch. This will then lead to perhaps the two X-men teams in outright battle against each other until when no one is looking Bishop comes back and puts an end to Ms Hope Summers leaving the rest of the X-men to debate whether what he did was justified.

oh how the jean fans hope ( haha) that she comes back. But dids thou all forget that Cable is coming back in december??
If somebody is going to put a bullet through the head of evil/dark phoenix/ Hope it's going to be him.

    1. Marvel said something in schism is going to happen that lays the groundwork for the next big event.
    2. During Schism we are supposed to find out something huge/special about one of the generation hope kids's future, which is the only book to "crossover" with the schism event, which was important for the next year.
    3. Marvel also said Hope and the Scarlet whitch ( both in the repowering mutants business) are going to be pivotal to the big event story and that it is centered around the x-men. ( although because of the avengers movie, the avengers will be the leading hero's)
    4. Cable is coming back, hope's father.
    5. Hope is showing signs of the phoenix and Bishop became evil because of her and wants to kill her before she kills millions ( so probably bishop will also be back in 2012)
    6. She has minions who are under her total control. well almost total control.
    7. Sinister is coming back. The evil man who wanted Hope for himself.

I think it is fair to say that Hope going evil is probably the best bet. Although if marvel would throw in Apocalypse who nudges Hope over to the darkside, that would be really cool.

The x-men end up being reunited but with someone who has the power of the dark phoenix.... who knows maybe MArvel will pull a DC on us.

Went with the "Bishop was right" one. Though I didn't pick it because I think it is going to happen, it probably won't, but I picked it because I just really, really want it to happen.

I'm all for the first two. Maggott and Marrow never really got a fair shot at really being X-Men. Mammomax got eaten by a Predator X, and deservedly so. He sucked.
Thus do I write the first chapter of my new scripture. And the first verse is "Let it all burn."

    Onslut.

The minds of Jean Grey & Emma Frost merge and form a titanic psionic beast that seeks to sleep with and mindf*** every mutant of interest to either of them. Cyclops would be their first 'victim'.

    Some other notable events:
    - Beast loses his fur again.
    - Iceman meets Human Torch, Original Torch, or the female Nova and the meeting spawns Hydro-Man. Hey, where'd you come from?!
    - Psylocke finds things getting awkward when she wakes up with the body of a Bolivian woman and her psionic powers take the form of a small fork. She must hone her powers to make it into a psi-trident. Her hair ends up pink too.
    - Hope is an impostor- False Hope.

    - The Fee-nix Saga- Marvel hypes the return of Jean Grey/Phoenix, but you'll have to pay $5.99 per issue. The books will also automatically combust within 10 minutes of sale unless another dollar is paid.

    - Adamantium Bites- Wolverine gets a new villain, Sabretooth II, who is fitted with adamantium teeth.

    - Eggscalibur- the Brood seek to form their own dimension conquering team.

    - Yet another Summers brother is revealed, and this time Professor X is the father. And in an awkward family reunion, Juggernaut reveals he also slept with Mrs. Summers and fathered Jughead Summers. Corsair then admits he slept with and fathered other Summers brothers with Lilandra and Selene, Hawk Summers and Damian Summers, and Hepizah (Marmot Summers). Corsair then reveals he was away for months when he found out she was pregnant with Scott so he isn't the father and Scott isn't a Summers.

    - In a quiet corner of the world, one of the most powerful mutants to ever exist resides, Scott Sumners. Mr. Sinister learns a typographic error put him on the wrong genealogical track for all these years. He was fooled because Cyclops happened to be a fairly powerful mutant. It was all a scheme by Mrs. Sinister, his immortal ex-wife from over a century ago to send him on the wrong track while she researched the powerful Sumners bloodline!

    - X-Cutioner's Song II- X-Cutioner hunts Dazzler, driven insane by the aging starlet resorting to autotuning to hit those high notes she used to hit.
    - Fail-lanx Covenant- another failed attempt by the Phalanx to assimilate mutants.

    - Jean Grey will be resurrected through a long lost twin sister to the Madelyne Pryor clone. Or maybe dumping a lock of Jean's hair into that ugly green cocoon at the bottom of the bay would make the hair grow into an all new Jean.
    - Or Jean will be resurrected... as a man! Gene Gray! Makes for an awkward reunion with Cyclops...
    - Jean is resurrected, but Emma Frost drops a bombshell. Scott Summers isn't a Summers and is actually Jean's brother! He was put up for adoption at a very young age because it was very evident even that early that he was going to be a bit of a douche. Professor X knew about it, but never mentioned it, feeling it a bit awkward to discuss... and he wanted to watch out of his own amusement. Running a school for mutants and the cause for getting mutants accepted into society can get boring at times, so he needed some basal entertainment. The fury Jean feels at Professor X for letting her engage in incest for years and at Scott for being relieved he can ditch Jean for Emma with a legitimate pretense for once in his life spawns a new Dark Phoenix. The story can be called Kill Scott: Vol. 1 & Kill Charlie: Vol. 2.

    - Jean is found happily married, living a quiet life in the suburbs. As it turns out, the Phoenix Force pulled a double fakeout. Not only did it substitute a duplicate back in the '70s, but the Jean around from the '80s- '00s was also a duplicate. It sensed Jean's hesitation about Cyclops and it decided to intervene and make the break for her, making him think she was dead, and then revived again and dead again so she can live peacefully. It's also revealed she never really cared much for Professor X. Jean, when discovered, refuses to return to the X-Men.
