Druid should probably thank Strange. That was the first time Druid was even half useful at anything in a long while. Not that it lasted.

Clearly, Dr. Strange needs an EPIC mini-series where he regains his Sorcerer Supreme mantle, and remind some folks why they fear the Dark and who stands between them and a giant hentai party.

I don't think Marvel knew what to do with Dr. Druid. So they wrote him as a kind of cut-rate Strange -- similar origin, similar hair, similar 'eye' motif, but with Druid having a drastically limited power set and insisting he wasn't a real sorcerer.

It's kind of sad in that Druid is one of marvels first super heroes. When Stan and Jack made him, he pre-dated the FF.

I think somewhwere along the way, the poor guy sort of got a "loser" stigma about him. Maybe it was because of the way his Avengers run ended, I don't know.

MTV has been doing Avenger VS X-Men War Journals, which are behind the scenes video, with plenty of interviews. Here's one about the process of writing for a few of the Architects, including Matt Fraction. His part starts about 1:40. It explains a lot. LOL!

It's better to watch it for all the hand gestures, funny bits, and tone, but here's the pertinent part.

My writing technique ... It's like I have a stick dipped in honey, and I'm in a field full of butterflies, and I have to run around and catch the butterflies on the stick in the right order... if I didn't get them right {order}, then I have to take them off and go {try again}

I have a very messy {technique} ... kind of ... pigpen. I just have this cloud of filth. And eventually it becomes a list, and the list becomes a breakdown, and the breakdown becomes a script.

So, Dr. Strange could be responsible for Dr. Druid corruption and fall...I mean, that seem quite traumatizing, the kind of experience that would make a man mad for power so he isn´t violated that way again...
