I guess so. You're taking Eric's "death" particularly well.

i learned after Scott Lang died that there's really no point in getting bent out of shape about it. Eric had a great and somewhat complete character arc. his whole thing was narrowly escaping well-deserved punishment. i found that greatly entertaining. and it makes perfect sense for him to meet his end the one time he rejects his own nature/acts selflessly. and if he returns or is proven to be alive, it's a win-win.

I don't remember that happening. I distinctly remember him living through that arc and going on to be in a mini with Pym.

Scott Lang's back, though, so there is still hope for that. I just hope someone who loved him as much as Michelinie and Layton did will find him, and use him extremely well.

    The solicitations for August's issue!

    DEFENDERS #9
    MATT FRACTION (W)
    JAMIE McKELVIE (A)
    Cover by TERRY DODSON
    • The Concordance Engine unleashed!
    • The Defenders…. lost in infinite space-time without a map!
    • What alternate universe will they find first? And who is waiting for them?

Alternate reality ... why am I suddenly thinking of that Dr. Seuss arc?

Oh, wait ... this is the issue Nick Fury is supposed to show up. Is he going to be an alternate universe Fury?

the interviews described him as the "astronaut" of the team. but looking at the confederates of the curious, i wonder if ant-man might be around to record their adventures; as an analog for the erskine character. i only mention this because it's the role that he played later on in the Fantastic Four book.

That's a really good way of putting it. If he really is dead, I think he went out great as well.

Yeah, I think you may be right: he'll be the "chronicler" or something.

So as everyone can tell, I'm currently in love with the bronze age, and I was wondering if there were any particular runs during the bronze age to look for? I have the entire New Defenders run, featuring Beast, Angel and Iceman et al, but I'm looking for older stuff.

The Defenders line-up I'd like to see...

    Doctor Strange
    Nighthawk
    Iron Fist
    Namor
    Valkyrie
    Hellcat
    She-Hulk (Jen)
    Clea /or Namora

I would LOVE to see Hellcat make an appearance in this one, especially after the ordeal she went through with cancer and seeing Strange again to help cure it.

If you like Englehart, you have to read the Avengers Defenders war, which is out in trade now, IIRC. It was one of the first 'events' with half the issues in Defenders and half in Avengers. It runs through 8-11 in the Defenders and 115 -118 in the Avengers.

You'd probably enjoy the Gerber run, also, with Sal Buscema. It starts in this issue and runs through #41. It's ... quirky. It also features the gnome with a gun.

Dialogue on covers are the best.
