The first post of the thread has all the Defenders books that have been printed, I believe. If you like funny, I recommend the Giffen, DeMatties and McGuire DEFENDERS INDEFENSIBLE. It's hilarious. Old school, original Defenders, I'd got with either the Masterworks or the Essentials or if you want a taste, there's the Avengers Defenders War, which I think just came out in trade.

So far, where does Fraction's Defenders rate alongside some of the other runs? Or is it too early to tell?

I still need to see more to say (am a tradewaiter and have just skimmed an issue or two), but I have to admit I'm happy with the positive word of mouth it seems to be getting.

    Peace

    It's too early to tell.

It's missing a couple of things that were a hallmark of early Defenders -- a concern for social justice and a lot of Hulk/Namor bickering. This team doesn't bicker so much, and when they do there's a definite 'edge' to it. And I hate Fraction's take on Strange's sexual proclivities. But I'm enjoying it so far.

A darker RDJ? Someone like Stephen Dorff, or Viggo Mortensen?

I am enjoying the first issues so far but have to say i wish there was a different member instead of the silver surfer, i absolutely love Doctor Strange, Namor, Red She-Hulk (prefer just She-Hulk though) and im even a Black Cat fan but ive never really liked Silver Surfer.

I was hoping he could change my mind when i started reading but i just think he seems a bit out of place.

I've seen a couple people recommend Mark Ruffalo, of Hulk fame

He's nice, but he's not quite... angular... enough to play Strange

Ruffalo has a six picture deal with Marvel, I think he'll be busy being Banner for a while.

i think Guy Pearce would have made a great Bruce Banner.

"Vincent Price fun?" so we're talking about Nic Cage, then?

he's an alien. of course he's out of place. i just think of him as Doctor Manhattan to get over it.

i'd be for Viggo Mortensen but he won't do it. and, no offense, but i can't stand Stephen Dorff. he's ruined perfectly good movies for me.

he's got the right cheekbones. he's of appropriate age. he considers himself an intellectual/doesn't settle for ordinary character roles very often. i just doubt that he'd do a comic book movie after lord of the rings.

strange. i didn't realize that he was doing a movie with Fassbender. ive always thought that they bore some small resemblance to one another.
