Progress isn't made by early risers. It's made by lazy men trying to find easier ways to do something. - Robert Heinlen
Great scans! I love that panel where Moondragon talks in the third person. I have to make that into an icon or signature. That's just too fun.
And yes. Definitely some .... tension going on between here and Hank.
Some powerful stuff in that last scan.
You'd think they'd put those gerber books in print (in color). They made a lot of money off him in his life, why not squeeze a little more now that he is dead.
Banned once...and still pissed about it. Well, okay...more like annoyed about it.
I thought the appearance of the Last Defenders in Vengeance #1 was a cameo, but this second panel in the recap page for issue #2 has me rethinking that.
Did anyone pick up the first issue? I liked the idea of a mini-series dealing with villains, but this didn't click with me for some reason.

So whatever happened with Cloud? that was such a bizarre character/storyline.. and ironically a prescient commentary on transgender issues..
According to the excellent resource, Marvel Universe Appendix, Cloud returned to space because she was a danger to Earth. Her last appearances was in a Solo Avengers issue, where this occurred:
(Solo Avengers I#20/2) - Cloud, appearing in Carol's form, visited Moondragon (in a child's body), Gargoyle (in a gem), Sundragon, and Demeityr aboard their ship. They reminisced about Earth, and Cloud tried to raise Moondragon's spirits, confessing that she still loved her. Cloud missed Earth terribly, but didn't dare leave because of the stars her nebula body was creating. Cloud monitored Moondragon and saw that she continued to struggle with her evil side. When Moondragon attempted to slay Gargoyle and Pamela Douglas by casting them into space, Cloud rescued them. She awakened Pamela's Sundragon powers, and gave Gargoyle a new body from her own substance. Cloud confronted Moondragon in teh form of a dragon. Cloud later departed wtih Gargoyle, Sundragon, and Demeityr, leaving Moondragon to her own fate.

Good find. Hopefully Fraction will somehow incorporate all past Defenders characters and themes into his new run.
lol moondragon's headband was humiliating.
Yup, I did. For a first issue it references a lot of flashbacks scenes that readers might not all be familiar with (Nighthawk's Defenders and Kristoff I do recognize), and the appearance of a Bieber-ish In-Betweener had me thinking of the In-Between and Scorpio with the Zodiac Key and the Avengers.
Johnny Storm was dead; who is this resurrected Johnny Storm?
"Here, hold my Annihilus…" Johnny Storm, Fantastic Four #601
Agreed. Zeck would have definitely boosted sales. I'm not so sure of the direction though ... would it still have been so quirky?
