Maybe at the box office, but if this was a Rumbles thread the results would be totally different.

Thor also had a $25 million Friday opener, and went on to do $65 million for the weekend. Harry Potter would have to do a pretty huge drop from last weekend to get underneath that, although that's not out of the ordinary for the series, which has often has 60% drops by the second weekend, and probably steeper then that now that it just broke all the damn records.
yay......??
It's good to know that in the LEAST the Cap movie won't be completely overshadowed by the Potter film right out of the gate (even if Potter does catch up by the end of the weekend). I'm sure that was something a few people at least were worried about.

So....the underdog prevailed over the juggernaut (and no, not of the X-Men variety...)? :D

If Cap in the end makes better gross revenue worldwide than Potter then yes i will be impressed. Really freaking impressed.
But just that ? A friday ? Pff, come on, is that even worth talking about ?
Nah, most Potter guys would lose to Random Man with a Shotgun, at least the book versions anyway.
Well comparing one Friday to the other is fair, I suppose. Although didn't Potter come out on a Wed? Anyway, getting the number 1 spot, and doing so with enough money that you're not considered a failure anyway [COLOR="green"]*coughcough*[/green] is what really matters. But just that ? A friday ? Most of the people who truly want to see HP already has.
Dc: Action Comics/Animal Man/Swamp Thing/Earth-2/Green Arrow/Batman/Threshold/Batwoman/Justice League/Green Lantern/Teen Titans/Superman/Justice League Dark/I,Vampire.
So a uber front loaded movie like Harry Potter on its 2nd weekend doesn't beat the most iconic superhero movie of the summer on its 1st weekend. LMAO as if that logic makes any sense. When Captain America manages to gross even ONE FOURTH as much as Harry Potter does overall get back to me and I'll eat my words.
For the record Harry Potter currently sits at 834 million while Cap sits at 68 million. In fact Harry Potter is already the #27 grossing movie of all time and will most likely jump into the top 10 by next weekend. I doubt it will top Avatar's 2.78 billion but Titanics spot at #2 all time with 1.84 billion is possible.
BTW, I've yet to see either and would rather see Cap as I'm not a Harry Potter fan. But dumb arguments really annoy me and arguing that HP is somehow diminished by Cap beating it this weekend is an IDIOTIC argument.
